A letter from the CEO of the Methodist Home
Dear family and friends of the Methodist Home,
I am pleased to announce that our new and improved dining room is now open! Thank you all for your patience as we worked to make these improvements. We are very happy with the results, and I hope you all feel the same! Please stop by any time to take a look at what we've done.
In this newsletter you'll find photos from last week's Halloween celebration, as well as dates for upcoming events and activities.
Coming up this month we welcome Georgetown Day School for a music program, plus we look forward to our AHCA Day of Service, a Thanksgiving dinner, and much more!
To view a complete listing of this month's activities, click here or visit the Special Events tab on our website.
As always, we welcome you to come visit us at the Methodist Home -- our door is always open to friends! If you or someone you know is interested in scheduling a tour of our community, please contact Diane Heyde at 202.966.7623.
Thank you for your continued support of the Methodist Home, we look forward to seeing you around!
All my best,
Sandy Douglass, CEO/Administrator The Methodist Home of DC & Forest Side |

Halloween Celebration
Last week residents, family members, friends and staff celebrated Halloween in style with some vintage entertainment. Everyone got into the spirit with great costumes: peas in a pod, scary witches, happy sunflowers, and more! Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for these festivities! We also had a great time earlier in the month, celebrating Halloween early with our AHCA volunteers. We can never get enough of our AHCA volunteers! To see photos from our Halloween celebration, you can view them on our Facebook page here.

The Oldest Living Pianist: She's 109!
Alice Herz-Sommer, at 109, is the oldest living pianist and Holocaust survivor. A new documentary called "The Lady in Number 6" tells her inspirational story and, according to the Los Angeles Times, has landed itself on the shortlist for the Academy Awards' documentary short subject category.
It's always wonderful to see older adults take the spotlight in such an inspiring way. We wanted to share with you her story: take a look at the preview for this documentary by clicking here.
