NATIONAL FAMILY CAREGIVERS MONTH
|
Raising Awareness through National Editorial
November is National Family Caregivers Month, the month when the nation recognizes the more than 65 million family caregivers who each year are providing care to chronically ill, disabled, or aged family members. On average, they provide 20 hours of care per week and the potential negative impact on caregivers' physical, emotional, and psychological wellbeing is well documented.
On October 21, Comfort Keepers® will help elevate awareness and recognition of the value of family caregivers and at the same time, introduce the concept of "respite care" and what it can mean to preserving the family caregivers' wellbeing and preserving a relationship with the family member.
Comfort Keepers is participating in a national, co-op satellite media tour (SMT) - an editorial technique used by companies to establish their brand, via a spokesperson, as THE industry expert. Comfort Keepers will be the premier participant in this media tour and the spokesperson for this event is a former PR executive, and now advocate for safety and caregiving, Alison Rhodes-Jacobson. During the broadcast interview, Ms. Jacobson will present Comfort Keepers as the premier provider of in-home care for seniors and other adults, and, a solution for those millions of family caregivers desperately in need of temporary relief of caregiving responsibilities.
The interview will broadcast October 21, 2013. The list of participating markets and media outlets continues to grow and will be finalized the week of the broadcast, but to see a list of participating markets to date, click here.
We believe the national advertising has created "a buzz" for us to continue to capitalize on and build the momentum to position Comfort Keepers as the #1 provider of in-home care. We will publish the final market list before the forecast - watch for the Friday Flash article.

NATIONAL ADVISORY COUNCIL

2014 - 2016 NATIONAL ADVISORY COUNCIL ELECTION
| Fellow Franchisees -
My name is Jim Vercruyssen and I will begin my third year on the NAC this January when I assume the NAC Chair for calendar 2014. As franchisees, we will be electing the 2014 - 2016 NAC representatives this fall and I am reaching out to each of you to see if the time is right for you to consider running for the NAC. And -I do say "consider," because I think there is an appropriate time for a franchisee to dedicate the time to the NAC, which requires an owner to be away from his/her business for the NAC meetings, and for some that is a challenge. However, I would like to share my NAC experiences with you and then you can judge whether this is right for you.
I have genuinely enjoyed these past two years on the NAC and look forward to the upcoming year. That is not to say these have been easy years - quite the contrary. As a council, we tackled the National Brand Fund vote and implementation, the Franchise Agreement Review Committee, a series of vendor evaluations and subsequent RFP processes, and frankly, a host of other things. We just completed the annual NAC strategy session where the topic was sustainable, profitable GROWTH for franchisees. What I have enjoyed most about my tenure on the NAC is making a difference for the network and knowing that I have somehow had an impact on the growth of Comfort Keepers®. Being a member of the NAC has also afforded me the opportunity to meet franchisees from all over the U.S. These are some of the smartest people in the network who are doing some very ingenious things to capture growth in their markets, and I feel really privileged to have access to these amazing folks. I am also impressed with the spirit of cooperation within the CKFI members and how dedicated they are to support sustainable, profitable growth for franchisees. Already we are having discussions about aligning to tighter business goals so we are focused on one thing - franchisees' profitable growth.
Franchisees will elect five (5) new representatives this fall who will serve three (3) years on the NAC. Does that seem like a long time - because it surely did to me! But the first two years have flown and I believe that is because of what the NAC focused on and what we were able to achieve.
If you have any questions about what participation in the NAC means, feel free to contact any current, or previous, members. The contact information is on the Members site under the NAC tab. Thank you all for your consideration.

LAST CALL ON DIRECTORY LISTINGS

Verify Your Office Listing for Google Places
Make your franchise known to Google! Part of the National Advertising initiative includes a FREE Google Places listing for all the local offices. Soon, we will submit our list to Google, and create a Google Place for each location across the country. This is a great way to help your customers find you, and it will help with the overall SEO of your website! To create a new location in their system, an office has to have a unique physical address and phone number. For multi-unit owners that are covering multiple territories from one central office, you'll need to have a different phone number for each of the markets that you serve. We have put together a listing of all the offices, in the proper format, and have posted it on Members for review. Please take a moment to review your office(s) information on this spreadsheet. If you wish to change anything on that list, please communicate your requested changes in writing by sending an e-mail to ShaunWorcester@Comfortkeepers.com. Please communicate any necessary updates to Shaun by Thursday, 10/17. We'll be submitting the list on Friday, the 18th.
