About
The Antinori Family of Florence, one of the world's oldest and most distinguished wine producers, has lived in Tuscany since the 14th century and celebrated its 629th Anniversary as winemakers this year. The Antinori reputation has grown throughout the centuries. They have pioneered techniques in cloning, fermentation and aging that have enhanced wines from Tuscany and Umbria while retaining their traditional character. For 26 generations, the Antinori Family has led a "Renaissance" in Italian winemaking by combining tradition, a love of authenticity and a dynamic innovative spirit. This spirit remains at the core of Antinori philosophy: to maximize the undiscovered potential in winemaking while safeguarding the wealth of tradition, culture and taste which gives Antinori wines their unique identity. Throughout its long history the family has always personally managed the business. The current company president, Marchese Piero Antinori, has stated that "age-old roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have not served to inhibit our innovative spirit." This spirit will continue as Piero Antinori's three daughters, Albiera, Allegra and Alessia, join the company to ensure that the traditions are maintained. Today, the Antinori Family continues to live in Florence and produce some of Italy's finest wines. Palazzo Antinori, a 15th century landmark located near the Arno River in the center of Renaissance Florence, serves as offices and the family residence for the last 500 years. As well as the family's traditional heritage of estates in Tuscany and Umbria, investments have been made over time in other areas highly-suited to quality wine production in a quest to promote new terroirs, rich in winegrowing potential. An illustration of this is the Antinori Family's California wine estate - Antica Napa Valley. As president, Marchese Piero Antinori has shaped the company over the last 40 years into one whose wines are prized by connoisseurs the world over.

 2012 Il Bruciato Bolgheri DOC - $33.00
"Antinori's 2012 Il Bruciato is full of Bolgheri exuberance. Blackberry jam, cloves, new leather and menthol jumps from the glass. Plump and juicy to the core, the 2012 captures the essence of Bolgheri at an accessible price."

Badia a Passignano 2008 Chianti Classico Riserva - $50.00
"The 2008 Chianti Classico Riserva (100% Sangiovese) from Antinori's Badia a Passignano estate, possesses gorgeous delineation and energy from start to finish. Sweet red cherries, flowers, licorice, tobacco and mint take shape beautifully in the glass. Deceptively medium in body, the 2008 Chianti Classico Riserva possesses marvelous depth for the year and terrific balance. Raspberries, crushed flowers, licorice and spices are layered into an understated finish built mostly on energy. Over the last few years, this has been one of the most improved wines in the Antinori line-up. This is a great showing."

2009 Guado Al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore DOC - $94.00
"The 2009 Bolgheri Superiore Guado al Tasso impresses for its richness and sheer power. Mocha, sweet spices, plums, blackberries and herbs wrap around the palate as this intense wine shows off its pedigree. Layers of flavor build to the deep, intensely satisfying finish. The 2009 is complete and harmonious from the very first taste. In 2009 the blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot."

2011 Tignanello Toscana IGT - $100.00
"Kirsch, rose petal, pomegranate, exotic spices and mint are woven together in a fabric of notable class in the 2011 Tignanello. An exotic wine that captures the essence of the year, the 2011 is endowed with magnificent complexity, nuance and class. The silky, polished finish makes the 2011 incredibly appealing today, but the wines from this site have always aged very well. The 2011 is going to need time to shed some of its baby fat, but it will always remain extroverted and racy to the core. I can't wait to see how the 2011 ages."
