Colton Smith caught this nice keeper here at Port Sonoma on a Bullhead at the mouth of the Bay:

Mike Cathcart landed this nice beauty also near Port Sonoma.  What is that hanging out it's mouth?  Nothing other than a Leonard's Bait & Tackle Bullhead!

Danny was busy selling Bucket Aerator combos when he landed this nice 22" bass on Grass Shrimp.  Capt. Joel lost Danny's 70+ lb Bat Ray after he said "I got this, go grab the camera".  When Danny came back Joel was just standing there with slacked line and a confused look on his face trying to explain that that was the first time that he lost a fish... Is that right?

Conrad landed his 25" Bass here at Port Sonoma just minutes ago on a Bullhead.  They had 7+ Keepers earlier this week when they were out last.

Did you guys read this story about the giant eyeball washing ashore in Florida.  They are baffled with what it could be from.  Some theories are a Giant Squid or even a Marlin: (Click Here for the story)

Fishing Update
  • ***Petaluma River***: You can't cast out without hitting a fish on the head with your sinker here in our river system.  Wide open Striper bite.  Many customers have reported limis while fishing this week and we welcome the rain and hope that the Sturgeon bite turns on.  Bass are being caught on all the live baits we offer.  Even our live Ghost Shrimp!  Brad you picked a hell of a time to stop fishing the Petaluma river...
  • Napa River:  Napa has echoed these stories of limits on Bass.  We didn't hear too much about Sturgeon this week but we hope that customers will use the Ghost Shrimp and Grass Shrimp to bring in a few of these monsters. Captain Joel say's if you want to avoid the Sharks and Ray's to head to this system.
  • Sonoma Creek: Few reports for Sturgeon and if you are fishing from shore this has proven to be one of the better locations to do just that.  Bass bite has been steady we have had different groups report to us that keeper Sturgeon are being caught here.  Just like a Bigfoot sighting customers have shown us their grainy cell phone pictures as proof.
  • San Pablo Bay:  Most that Bass have moved into the river systems for now.  The shark bite has been outstanding in the bays and most charter boat Captains have been working the Pumhouse with frozen baits; Squid, Bullheads, Midshipmen and Anchovies.
  • Bait: The Ghost Shrimp have arrived!!!  in addition we are stocked up with plenty of Bullheads, Grass Shrimp, Pile Worms and even a few Mudzillas!
  • Dave Hurley provides the best detailed fishing report for the greater Bay Area.  Check it out and sign up: The Hurley Chronicles
  • Low Tides: We recommend that you do not try to boat into our slough right now unless it is high tide.  The mud is pretty thick and if you can just stop by before you launch.  We hate to see you guys mess up your engine kicking up mud on the bottom of a tide.  Until they dredge you gotta drive here before you launch.

Will Vincent has been doing his share of fishing this last week and here is what he had to say:  "As if you didnt already know! the striper bite was HOT last Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues. Fished up river trolling rattle taps and hair raisers. landed 12-15 fish a day. Released all but a few for dinner. Here is a few pictures of my buddies i took out Tuesday The guy with the BIG smile is Ted Vivian of Petaluma and the other taller guy is my friend TJ from Petaluma. Tides are getting bigger but i may hit it today anyway. My broken fishfinder just came back yesterday and i need to test it."

Here is another story about a weird fish washing ashore. This one came ashore in Cabo San Lucas and it happens to be an Oarfish, click here for the article.
