here is Steve Ameral and a nice 42" Leopard Shark caught here on the Petaluma River this morning.  The Shark bite has been great out in the Bay but pretty good here in the Rivers as well.  The Second picture is also from today.  This 29.5 inch Bass came in at 11lbs on the scale.  The Bullhead bite is outta control out here.  This Fish is the Whopper of the week being that Steve released it to live another day.  Steve was the winner of a two-pack of bells for his next trip out fishing!

Brad's Corner
Just when you though Bradley Eugene Hood III was done for the season he couldn't retire on a loss.  He went back out this morning and launched at 7am at Black point.  He passed by a fisherman who was packing up and when Brad asked why he was leaving so early the man replied "I got my limits on Bass and besides i got a BBQ to go to at noon".  He was fishing right near the boat launch.  Brad went on to have the best Bass fishing day in his life.  He had a bucket of bullheads and against our advise headed up river near Mira Monte.  He caught a total of 9 keepers while up there and only stopped fishing because he ran out of Bullheads.  Now that's how you end your season Brad!

Fishing Update
  • ***Petaluma River***:  Wide open Bass bite on Bullheads!  Brad, Steve and myself all had nice Bass on Bullheads while fishing different parts of the river.  Even the shore produced limits today.  This is no BS get on it folks.  Lite tackle, small hooks, sliders and lite weights while fishing live baits.  Up river produce 9 keepers for Brad Hood I wish I could call him a liar but he has pictures and says "it was the best Bass fishing I have ever experienced".  That says a lot coming from a guy who has spent countless hours out here on the water.  In addition to the Bass bite Steve landed a nice keeper Leopard Shark.  Guess who is fishing the Petaluma River tomorrow? This guy!
  • Napa River:  Steady bite reported from here.  Bass, Shark and even  few Sturgeon have been caught this week.  If trying for Sturgeon the lower Napa is your best bet.  Use Grass Shrimp, EEL or some good ol' fashioned Stink Pickle (poor mans EEL).
  • San Pablo Bay:  Want to go Shark fishing?  Head out here with cut baits or anything stinky.  Mike Andrews, the Captain of The Predator has been using any Salmon parts that you can pick up from your fish market.  Salmon heads and guts have been landing nice Leopards and 7 gils.  Frozen Midshipmen have produced nice fish as well.
  • Bait:  Bullheads are in abundance!  We also have plenty of Grass Shrimp and Pile worms as well.  Mudsuckers are limited.
  • Football: Don't let the Football games stop you from fishing on Sundays!  You can pull up Veetle.com on your smart phone or CPU and stream games live.  Veetle is a website that streams TV channels.  If you have Direct TV download their App or The Website itself to your phone and watch games that way.  I am speaking from experience here folks this is what I do to not miss my team or any game when I have an itching to go fishing.
  • Dave Hurley provides the best detailed fishing report for the greater Bay Area.  Check it out and sign up: The Hurley Chronicles
  • Low Tides: We recommend that you do not try to boat into our slough right now unless it is high tide.  The mud is pretty thick and if you can just stop by before you launch.  We hate to see you guys mess up your engine kicking up mud on the bottom of a tide.  Until they dredge you gotta drive here before you launch.
