Pray With Us for...

1. Book contract for Tim's new book on Spirit-led living---- proposal to prospective publisher to go out this month

2. Nelson Siang Awr, who is translating Tim's book, The Spirit-Led Leader: Nine Leadership Practices and Soul Principles, into Burmese.

3. Wisdom and guidance to select a translator for the Spirit-Led Leader participant's guide into Kachin, in anticipation of a Spirit-Led Leadership four day workshop in October in Kachin State

4. The translator of materials for a new intensive course for pastors and leaders on Spirit-Led Living, to be introduced this November in Chin State

5. Course preparation this fall MIT---- New Testament Theology (two sections) and a new Master of Theology course on Romans

6. Real peace and resolution to conflict between Kachin people and the Myanmar government

7. Peace in Ukraine with justice for the people and wisdom for the church in the midst of civil unrest and international political conflict

8. Funds for the completion of the Faculty Housing on MIT campus---- nearly $200,000 is still needed

9. More big brothers, big sisters, Christian workers, and outreach-minded churches to collaborate with us in serving about two dozen at-risk Yangon Youth

10. Antiretroviral drugs for husband and father of four who just tested positive for HIV---- and wisdom for us in knowing how to best respond to the family's urgent request for help to save his faltering life

Note: HIV/AIDS is a growing and serious problem in Myanmar. Currently, there are only enough drugs in the country to treat about 60% of those infected with the virus. Widespread poverty and ignorance compound the problem.

What does a person who feels loved by God look like? Gazing at the group of thirty people assembled for our final worship service after eight days of silence, Scripture study, worship, daily spiritual direction, prayer in the Chartres cathedral, and contemplation of images of biblical scenes and characters in the church, I was amazed at the peacefulness, joy and even radiance I observed.
God breathing life into Adam

The twenty-one retreatants, mostly of French origin, ranged in age from late twenties to eighty-something. The group included a mix of lay people, theological students and those who had committed their lives to full-time Christian ministry. Each came with a particular need or desire. It was beautiful to watch God touching lives in different ways, connecting with each person where she or he needed to be reached.

Retreatants contemplating Christ on the South Porch

Daily themes taken from the spirituality of Ignatius of Loyola included the Love of God, Indifference ("Thy will be done"), Sin, God's Mercy, Offering Oneself to God, and Life in the Spirit.

The candlelight labyrinth walk in the cathedral after hours was a highlight for many. The peacefulness of the prayer walk, the ability to share it with others who were also reaching out to Christ, and the beauty of the setting sun in the stained glass windows supported our ability to listen to God and open our hearts in faith.

An Evening of Reconciliation with various stations for prayer helped us all to release our burdens and trust God for the next steps in our lives.

We prayed in the ancient crypt several times, allowing the sixteen hundred years of history of the church in Chartres touch our own desire to dedicate our lives to knowing, loving, and serving God. After remembering our baptisms next to the 800 year old baptismal font, we knelt in prayer giving thanks to God for Jesus' life, death, and resurrection, and asking for the Holy Spirit to lead us forward.

What does a person who feels loved by God look like? Peaceful, joyful, and even radiant---- a transformed face of beauty that only God's Spirit can create.

With gratitude to God for God's faithfulness to each one of us,

Jill and Tim

Ground breaking for faculty housing at MIT

At long last, all the hurdles have been cleared. All the necessary permits have been secured. The foundation has been laid. The long-awaited, much needed, faculty housing project has begun!

Myanmar Institute of Theology has agreed to provide a Faith, Hope, and Love Office on the third floor of the new facility, alongside an apartment to be used by visiting faculty. To be able to stay on campus will save us thousands of dollars in hotel fees every year, and will allow us to be more much a part of the seminary community during the four to six months we're in the country every year.

Tim Interviewed on North Carolina Radio

Last month, Tim was interviewed by Bill Campbell on the Vital Connection, a WHKP radio show based out of Henderson, NC. Tim discussed some of the major aspects of the Spirit-led life. Click the link below to listen.

Do you ever wonder what exactly we're teaching in Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Rwanda, the Congo, and Ukraine? Now you can find out for yourself in written form or audio sessions!

In response to requests from others who do leadership training in developing countries and pastors who participate in our own Spirit-Led Leadership retreats and workshops, we now have the full Teacher's Guide online, in addition to recorded sessions and several video sessions. All this is available for free to our students around the world, and to you, too!

Help put Spirit-Led Leader material into local languages!

Wish List for Donations

We continue to gain more opportunities to teach and equip leaders throughout Myanmar, and there's a growing need for these Christian leaders to have leadership resources in their own language. Our goal is to provide Tim's Spirit-Led Leader book in Burmese and our workshop guides in Falam and Kachin.

Please consider helping to provide the needed funds for the following translation projects:

  • Translate Spirit-Led Leader into Burmese ($1400)
  • Print 1000 copies of Burmese versions of SLL ($1048)
  • Translate and Spirit-Led Living Participant's Guide into Falam ($300)
  • Translate and Spirit-Led Leader Participant's Guide into Kachin ($400)
If you would like to support any of these projects, please click on the donate button below, and add a specific project designation to your contribution. When you click on the button, you will also learn of other ways you can support Faith, Hope, and Love Global Ministries. Your partnership and generosity are deeply appreciated.
