GOLF TIP

Should I putt from
light rough?

How many times have you stood over the ball just of the green and asked yourself if you should chip it or putt it?  If your ball is just off the fringe and in light rough, you should be able to putt it out.  If the lie is such that you can see most of the ball above the grass line, take your normal putting stance but play the ball slightly back of where you would normally play it.  Make a stroke that comes down on the back of the ball and stops on contact.  The ball will pop out and then start rolling when it lands.  If there is any grass behind the ball that will come between the putter face and contact, you should chip instead of putt.
