GOLF TIP
|
Hit your layup shot so that it leaves you in perfect condition.
When you are playing par five and need to hit a layup shot, think carefully as to where you want to be for both distance and position. Most players tend to hit the longest club that they have in the bag to get as close to the green as possible. This is not a good strategy. You may be left with an awkward distance to the hole and without a good angle to the pin. A smarter way to play this shot is to determine what distance is best for you. If you like a distance of one hundred yards, select a club that will leave you that distance. Look where the pin is and aim to a side that will leave you a good angle for your third shot.
