A Season of Gratitude
By David Braughton, President & CEO

As we enter the holiday season and near the end of the year, I need to tell you how grateful I am to you.  This past year you made it possible for a little brown eyed, cherub faced boy to laugh again after years of abuse.  You were there at 2:00 a.m. when a distraught 17 year old girl was brought to us by the police after having been raped.  And it was you who paid their back rent and were responsible for Jennifer, with her broken arm, and her two young children waking up in their own beds today.  It was you who talked a drug crazed young man from jumping off the Skyway Bridge and it was you who... (CONTINUE)

Lezlie Delivering Holiday Gifts
Lezlie Garcia Prepares To Deliver Gifts to Crisis Center Clients

We all wear many hats at the Crisis Center. For most of the year, Lezlie Garcia serves as the Crisis Center's Volunteer Manager, but when the humidity disappears and the temperature drops, Lezlie puts on her Santa hat to coordinate the Crisis Center's holiday giving program.

Safety Bears Comfort Crisis Center Kids

Safety Bears Being Assembled
A Safety Bears 4 Kids Assembly Party
Without the unconditional love and companionship of Toto, would Dorothy have waded her way through the peril of Oz?  How about Linus Van Pelt without his blanket? Having something that you can clutch for comfort can make all the difference for a scared child.

The Crisis Center helps kids through their darkest hours. Many children who walk through the doors of the Crisis Center have experienced unspeakable cruelty. It's not uncommon for a child at the Crisis Center to have survived traumas including physical abuse, abandonment and sexual assault.

Crisis Center Launches Child Development Infoline

CDI is a free service offering screening and linkages to the resources families need to help their children develop, from birth to age five.

In Her Own Words: Breaking Wooden Boards with Our Bare Hands
by Brittany

Crack! Crack! The pine wood board, splintered by my hand and by pure emotion, fell in two pieces from the chairs it was braced upon to the floor. The whole room felt the peak of energy which had resulted in me being able to break a board (with a negative thought written upon it that had haunted me for a long time).
The adult me has healed a lot thus far in my journey, but the little girl in me still needs to do more healing. That day during the Empowerment Services workshop, survivors broke wooden boards with their bare hands...
