SQP in Action: Be Person Centric
This feature of News Around the System highlights ways Bon Secours employees are supporting the Strategic Quality Plan (SQP) and making a difference in people's lives around the world.
When Eddie, a 47-year-old pancreatic cancer patient, arrived at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital's Emergency Department in October, he was just one week away from marrying his fiancée, Tammy.
Given his deteriorating health, the family didn't want to wait. The hospital's oncology team sprang into action, and in two short hours, they planned a wedding for the couple with everything from music and flowers to a photographer and wedding cake.
The hospital's Director of Spiritual Care presided over the ceremony, and a wedding reception awaited the couple when they arrived at Community Hospice. Soon after, Eddie passed away, but his family says they will be forever grateful for the most "heart-touching" act of human kindness they ever witnessed.
