Let's Celebrate Our Unit Champions

Bon Secours Virginia appreciates our Unit Champions; they're vital parts of our mission of providing good help. Recently, our health system feted them in recent events in Richmond and Hampton Roads. About 85 Richmond employees and 45 Hampton Roads employees had a ball bowling last month.

"Unit Champions are a vital part to the success of our organization's engagement and they deserve some time to reflect on all their hard work throughout the year," said Christa Tyler, manager of BSV HealthSource/Ambulatory Care Service Excellence, one of the event's organizers.

"The Unit Champions are a group of highly engaged people who help keep morale high in their areas and also help communicate important information. Unit Champions also assist with engagement activities in the hospital," explained Peggy Frizzell, service excellence director at Mary Immaculate Hospital.

"I wanted to let you know what a great time I had," said Bon Secours Richmond Financial Analyst Tracy Dixon. "I was a little apprehensive since I didn't really know anyone, and I haven't picked up a bowling bowl in over 15 years! The location was great, everyone seemed to have a great time."

anchor_03Bon Secours Recognized
for Retaining Older Workers

Check out this CNBC story from Aug. 21 about how Bon Secours appreciates the experience an older workforce can bring. Vice President for Human Resources Jim Godwin said, "We want our benefits to encourage older workers to stay, not push them to leave."

The news segment featured Angela Vehrsch, a teacher at the Bon Secours Family Center, talking about why she chose to return to work after retirement. "More older people can put a lot more into working," she reflected. "I've been working since I was 17."
