Find out where you can get farm-fresh produce in Richmond and Hampton Roads. Produce bought at local markets is more nutrient dense and often tastes better because it is in season, and picked fresh that day. Not only is eating local good for you, but it is also good for your community!
3.
Check out this month's SimplyFresh blog, which celebrates the bounty of our farmers markets. July Café Specials in Bon Secours hospital cafeterias feature summertime favorites, with Very Berry Chicken Salad, Tomato Gazpacho and Watermelon Aqua Fresca. anchor_03Do You Need Answers about
Child Support in Virginia?

At Bon Secours, well-being means more than just staying in shape; it means keeping our whole family healthy.

Our families come in many different sizes and arrangements. We all want our children to grow up feeling secure. Child support is designed to ensure that children's needs are met, but at times it can be confusing and stressful for parents and guardians.

The Virginia Division of Child Support Enforcement will be the guest of Bon Secours Employee Assistance for a special webinar in August. There will be valuable information for both custodial and non-custodial parents, along with resources to help children and parents in Virginia. We hope you will join us for:

anchor_02Almost 17 Gallons of Blood
and Counting

Richmond resident Tim Wood has donated almost 17 gallons of blood. He figures he'll hit that mark with his next donation in July.

Wood, 76, was living in Atlanta when he made his first donation in 1970. Afterward, he got a letter from the woman who received his blood, thanking him profusely.

"She said her husband was bringing in the crop when his tractor overturned, killing him. She got on the tractor herself to work the crop, and it overturned on her, almost severing her leg. My blood helped save her leg. Not only did you help me, she said, you saved my three young sons from being orphans."

Her letter made such an impression that Wood continues to give to this day.

"I always feel very good afterwards."

Question: Why do people have such a hard time losing belly fat?
Answer: Many of us struggle losing fat around the waist. Here are a few things to know about the process of losing this fat:
green bulletFirst, your belly is where your body wants to store the most fat. This is because your abdomen is home to the large majority of your organs, which use a coating of fat to surround and protect them. Unfortunately, this does not pair well with the additional fat that accumulates underneath the skin and can lead to health complications.
green bulletSecondly, it is also important to know that there is no trick way or belly-flattening specific workout. Belly fat is a result of your total body fat percentage. The only way to reduce belly fat or fat in any specific area is to reduce the total amount of body fat one has.
green bulletFinally, it is a slow process. You will most likely lose fat in other places first, such as your face, arms and legs, as that fat is easier to mobilize.
To combat that stubborn belly fat, try the following:
green bulletFollow a healthy, balanced nutrition plan
green bulletIncrease the amount and intensity of your exercise
green bulletStay motivated and on track
green bulletPractice healthy lifestyle habits
