It's May and the Aug. 31 deadline for completing your three Wellness Incentives and earning up to $900 is approaching quickly. Because some of the Incentives require time to complete, be sure to start now!

Here are three places to start in May:

Pedometer Log Expert badge
1.

Log your steps. In order to log 500,000 steps, start in May if you haven't already. This is one way to earn the Health Habits Incentive.

2.

Another way to earn the Healthy Habits Incentive is to do Daily Challenges. Start before June 18 in order to finish 75 by Aug. 31.

3.

If you're working toward the Master of Exercise badge (for the Healthy Weight Incentive), be sure to start logging your exercise before June 21. Begin earlier and you won't have to log every day.

Remember that you must be on a Bon Secours Medical Plan to earn Wellness Incentives.

Question: I know it's important, but I don't like to exercise. What should I do?
Answer: First of all, it's great that you recognize the importance of physical activity for your health. Remember to keep in mind the importance of diet also. No amount of exercise can offset a bad diet plan.
As for exercise, choose an activity you enjoy and will do often. If you hate exercise, it's because you haven't tried enough types of activity yet. You don't have to sweat on a treadmill to get lean. Find something you enjoy that gets your heart beating faster, such as:

green bulletTaking a walk in the park
green bulletFinding a hiking trail
green bulletUsing dumbbells for strength training
green bulletBiking with friends or family in the neighborhood
The options are endless and any activity is better than no activity. Don't stop until you find what works for you!
