Mary Immaculate Earns Pathway
To ExcellenceŽ Redesignation

The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) recently redesignated Mary Immaculate Hospital as a Pathway to ExcellenceŽ facility.

Pathway to Excellence designation identifies the elements of work environments where nurses can flourish and identifies Bon Secours Mary Immaculate as one of the best places to work. The hospital originally earned this prestigious status in 2010 as the first hospital in the Hampton Roads community to receive the designation.

"This designation reflects the continuing hard work and collaboration of our nursing team since our designation in 2012. We remain committed to the professional practices that enhance nursing engagement and ultimately improves our patients' outcomes," said Jeffrey N. Doucette, vice president and chief nursing officer for Mary Immaculate.

Congratulations to Nancy Colbert from Bon Secours Richmond, who was randomly selected as a VISA gift card winner for completing the Bon Secours Confidentiality and Security Agreement Training before the deadline!

Bon Secours Addresses
Human Trafficking

January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Bon Secours Richmond CEO Toni Ardabell wrote this powerful column for the Richmond Times-Dispatch stressing Bon Secours' commitment to fighting this often-invisible crime.

"The fight against human trafficking is a priority for the congregation of Bon Secours and the Bon Secours national ministries. It is a natural fit for our health system, and we are committed to partnering with local organizations to build awareness and educate the community. And for the past 18 months, we have been training our medical staff, employees and Care-A-Van staff about the realities of human trafficking in our community, specifically focusing on our access points such as emergency departments, clinics and physician practices, where victims may come for care."
