Recognition Day Honors the Founding of Bon Secours
On Jan. 24, Bon Secours Health System will observe Recognition Day, commemorating the founding of the congregation of the Sisters of Bon Secours in Paris in 1824. On this day, Bon Secours recognizes and celebrates the contributions of the dedicated staff who answered the call to serve by participating in Bon Secours ministries.
Throughout our facilities, Prayer Services and Leadership Rounds will be held and the cafeterias will feature French-themed menus.
Note: Bon Secours' founding date was on Jan. 24. In order to celebrate on a weekday, this year's Recognition Day is on Jan. 25.
 |
"Recognition Day offers an opportunity to take time to step back and reflect on our calling to this healthcare ministry. I find inspiration from stories that exemplify our being good help to those in need, and this day serves as a reminder to thank our employees for all they do each day. Every person in our ministry is critically important and we are interdependent on one another. What we do matters and we want to honor the sacredness of our work."
--- Pam Phillips, Senior Vice President of Mission, Bon Secours Hampton Roads
|
"Recognition Day is not only a day to remember the founding of the Congregation of the Sisters of Bon Secours in 1824, but also (as the title suggests) a day to recognize all Bon Secours employees who advance the ministry into the future. To think that there are thousands of people committed to caring for the poor, sick and vulnerable is clear evidence to me of God's grace in our world --- truly something to celebrate."
--- Andrew Burrichter, Director of Mission, Bon Secours HealthSource

The Church of France officially recognized the Congregation of Sisters of Bon Secours of Paris in 1827 and Rome issued a similar decree in 1875. The Mother House is still located on the site, purchased in 1833, near the Luxembourg Gardens. |
