Easter Reflection
As we prepare to celebrate Easter, we are invited by Jesus in John's Gospel to contemplate what it means to have peace in God. Sometimes, in order to have lasting peace within, much must be overcome. We all experience barriers to attaining peace. What are those barriers for you?
We learn in this Gospel text the good news that by overcoming the world, Jesus has paved a way for us to experience authentic, lasting peace. However, overcoming is not a one-time event. Overcoming is a continual process of facing life's ever-present challenges and relying upon God to provide a touch of peace
each step of the way.
Easter is an exciting and culminating event, but more than that, it signifies a process of daily overcomings, reminding us that peace is attainable along the journey and not just at the end of it. May God's gentle and loving hand be with you as we await the joy of Easter morning.
Rev. Robert G. Shenk, M.Div, BCC Lead Chaplain, Projects and Research, Bon Secours Richmond
