Mindful Eating

Mindful eating can help break the cycle of "mindless eating." Slowing down and being 100 percent in the moment allows us to be aware of every taste, smell, touch and texture of the food we eat. When eating slowly and mindfully we typically eat less and enjoy food more. Mindful eating can transform our relationship to food and eating. Before eating, try these simple techniques:

green bulletStop. Bring your attention and awareness to the moment, and be truly present.
green bulletBreathe. Take a few deep, cleansing breaths to help you relax and focus.
green bulletReflect. And listen to what your body wants to eat, paying full attention to the experience of eating and drinking.
green bulletChoose. Make wise choices and allow yourself to be connected to all your senses through the eating experience.
