This week is Bon Secours Commitment Week. Take this opportunity to make personal health goals and focus on better health. Complete a Commitment Card identifying your goals, and participate in wellness activities and giveaways sponsored by the health system. And don't forget to earn points in the Commitment Challenge

The spirit of Dr. Seuss was alive on March 2 as children enjoyed at the Bon Secours Family Center at Memorial Regional Medical Center enjoy story time last week during Read Across America Day.

Inside Business, the Hampton Roads Business Journal, recognized Bon Secours Hampton Roads with three 2015 Health Care Heroes awards. Inside Business honored the winners Feb. 26.

Winners included Dr. Emily Lieb and Delores Greene-Price (click on the link to past issues of Good News for profiles of these winners). This week, learn about the Bon Secours Hampton Roads' Human Trafficking Initiative, winner of the Community Service category.

Applications are open for the 2015 Amber Nease Scholarship. Bon Secours Virginia will award the $1,000 college scholarship
to an employee's child who has volunteered in the Virginia
health system. Applications

Opportunity for Teen Volunteers

Youths ages 13-15 may volunteer in the Family Centers. To apply, contact the Family Center most convenient to you. Teen volunteers assist with games, lesson planning, art projects, story time and more. Teens earn volunteer service hours and will enjoy a special recognition banquet at the end of the summer.

The December graduating class at the Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing had a 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX-RN exam (nursing boards), the 13th consecutive class to achieve this outstanding mark of excellence. Twenty-six graduates are now working for Bon Secours. Way to go!

New Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Seney

Mary Immaculate Hospital has named Dr. Franklin D. Seney Jr. as Chief Medical Officer. In his new role, Seney will provide an enhanced level of focus on patients' clinical outcomes, as well as help identify opportunities for care delivery enhancements and innovation. He will also serve as a valuable resource as the executive team works to increase collaboration with medical staff members.

Board certified in nephrology and internal medicine, Seney is a member of Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group, and has practiced on the Peninsula since 1991.

This year's theme is Vivid Expressions, and children will explore the arts using a variety of media and learn about artists and various art styles.

Hosted by the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, the awards celebration honors individuals and organizations who have demonstrated a commitment to the promotion of respect and understanding among people of diverse racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds in the South Hampton Roads community.
