Dear Hayward Advocates and Supporters,

In the last few months, I've highlighted different aspects of Hayward in an effort to educate the public about the nuances affecting what we call "Hayward". We touched on "Money in Hayward", various jurisdictions covering Hayward, cross-promoting Hayward's charitable causes and  Diversity in Hayward

According to the 2010 census, the median age of a Hayward resident was 33.5 years of age. This means that half of the population of Hayward will have many more decades to live, build, grow and allow their lives to flourish in the Hayward community.
(potential development at the corner of Foothill & Hazel in the former Mervyn's headquarters building, Downtown Hayward)
This tells us that we must heed the trends of what you will start hearing me refer to as the "Uber" generation. The younger age group will continue to have less reliance on owning a vehicle and instead will opt for buying into the ride-share mentality. This will affect the type of development for housing and demand for recreation here in our community.

What do YOU think? (For a current proposal of a downtown development being reviewed by the City's Planning Commission, CLICK HERE)

In 2015, there were 43 pets adopted at the Hayward Animal Shelter using SantaCon Hayward funds! I'm proud of being original organizing member of this Hayward phenomenon since its inception in 2012.

St. Patrick's Day is the perfect day to introduce you to

You may recognize Matt from his decades of work in Hayward in his role helping to clean up and strengthen our neighborhoods.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more information about Matt and his service to our community...!

The Mt. Eden High School
Alumni Association & Educational Foundation has funded the purchase of art books for art classes at Mt. Eden High School.

In other alumni association news, the recipient of the Leadership Hayward scholarship Yogdevi also known as "Devi" has had very positive reviews of her involvement in the program! She is the very first high school student to ever be allowed into the program and our alumni association is proud to be instrumental in making this happen for the first time.

Special thanks to all those who sponsored and/or made donations to the alumni association! I am proud to serve as the association's Founder & President and appreciate my fellow Board Members and Charter Members who made this association possible...
