Dear Hayward Advocates and Supporters,

In the last few months, I've highlighted different aspects of Hayward in an effort to educate the public about the nuances affecting what we call "Hayward". We touched on "Money in Hayward", various jurisdictions covering Hayward and cross-promoting Hayward's charitable causes

This time, let's cover "Diversity in Hayward". We'll touch on facts and anecdotal observations while highlighting reality from credible sources. Here's a frequent conversation I have in the regular course of my business, working in and promoting Hayward:

Hayward Visitor:
"Oh, we're concerned about the schools after researching test scores online."

Me:
"Hayward is the 2nd most diverse City in California. This means many languages are spoken here, with English as a second language. So, it's not really fair to judge the schools based on test scores alone."

Visit the Hayward Unified School District website at  www.HUSD.us to learn more about our diverse community!

Did you know? There are 33 languages aside from English spoken in the school system here.

I do go into further detail about our community and share my excitement about Hayward to folks who aren't altogether familiar with us. My conversations are also an opportunity to provide a different perspective to people who ARE familiar with Hayward.

What do YOU think?

Did You Know?

The Asian-Pacific Islander population is the fastest-growing demographic in Hayward per the 2010 Census.

I've had the honor of serving as a Mentor and Workshop Presenter to participants of this great program in my role as a Board Member for the East Bay chapter.

I'd love to see more Hayward students get involved...

Please spread the word to fellow Hayward residents!
