Spaghetti Dinner and Art Show
The annual Spaghetti Dinner of the Kindergarten Center was held on Thursday, March 20. This year, teacher Fawn Lueke coordinated an art show with a Wizard of Oz theme to coincide with the fundraiser in celebration of Youth Art Month.
Proceeds from the dinner go toward yearbooks, as well as classroom activities such as field trips and graduation. In addition, bracelets were sold as a fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Scholastic Banquet

FFA places in timber contest
The Poplar Bluff High School Future Farmers of America won second place out of several teams on Monday, March 10, during a career development contest at Three Rivers College. The competition consisted of map reading, identifying trees, measuring trees, timber stand improvement, tool identification and a test.

Famous Missourians Living Museum
The public recently came out to view Oak Grove's annual Famous Missourians Living Museum at the elementary school. Fourth graders selected a famous Missourian to research, then dressed up as the individual and shared key facts with visitors.

Students get books published
A total of 158 students from Eugene Field Elementary School recently created their own books through the Nationwide Learning program.
The students became both authors and illustrators, writing personalized stories and drawing pictures to accompany the work. All participants were provided a free hardback book of their story.
Pictured above is a select group of fourth graders who participated in the program.

School Board Forum
Hosted by the Missouri National Education Association and the Missouri State Teachers Association, a School Board Forum for candidates of the upcoming election will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, March 31, at the Kay Porter Theater. Incumbents Alana Robertson and Steve Sells, and newcomers Cindy Boyers, John Scott and Jim Ward are vying for three seats on the Board of Education.
Practical Nursing Program
The Poplar Bluff Technical Career Center is currently accepting applications for the practical nursing class scheduled to begin in August. Application deadline is Tuesday, April 1. Click here to apply.
Municipal Election
An operating levy vote for Poplar Bluff R-I's buildings plan will take place on Tuesday, April 8. For information about the plan, visit the frequently asked questions, watch the animated video, or go to the Facebook and Twitter pages.

On Tuesday, Feb. 25, KFVS12 reported about the school's major chili cook-off victory.
