Vote Daily To Help Donlon Win $50,000

Donlon Elementary was nominated for a Power a Bright Future grant from The Clorox Company in hopes of securing up to $50,000 in funding for a new and improved Computer Lab.

The only way for Donlon to win the top $50,000 grant is by popular vote. That means the Donlon community must begin voting daily, based on the rules set forth by Clorox.

1. Click here to vote online for Donlon.

2. Text Donlon's code, 2159pbf, to 95248. (Text and data charges may apply. You must be at least 13 years old to vote by text.)

You can also help with simple acts like:

Posting on Facebook to encourage your friends and family to vote.

Tweeting the link to our voting page so your followers can vote.

Donlon is entered in the Explore category, but there are three different categories for funding - Play, Create & Explore. The school that receives the most votes overall will be awarded the $50,000 grand-prize grant and the next top vote-getters in each of the three categories will be awarded a $25,000 grant. Then, Clorox judges will also select three lucky schools (one in each category) to win a $25,000 judge's choice grant.

Voting continues through December 19th.

Everyone can vote twice daily -- once online and once by text -- so please vote each and every day. Share Donlon's link and text code with everyone you know and ask them to vote daily, too. There's a lot of money on the line so help spread the word!  Please contact Michelle Lemus at chellelemus@comcast.net with any questions.

Walk thru registation donations towards Physical Education

Thank you to the Donlon families for your donations towards Physical Education made at Walk Thru Registration this school year!  Those funds were recently used to purchase $2,000 of much needed equipment for Donlon Students.  Specifically, three sets of hockey sticks were purchased to improve manipulative skills using long-handled implements.  Also, seven large floor mats were purchased for fitness testing and body management skills, these skills are in the California content standards for physical education.

Letter from Superintendent Regarding Program Improvement

Pleasanton Unified School District                         December, 2012

Dear Parents and Guardians of Students in the Pleasanton Unified School District:

The purpose of this letter is to update you on the status of our District work with our State and Federal accountability measures. You may know that the State and Federal programs are in conflict with each other. The state model is a growth model and through that system, our District Academic Performance Index (API) again increased this past year from 906 to 915. This makes us one of the highest performing school districts in the state and is a real indication that our teachers, students and classified and administrative staffs are working hard and that our students are achieving the Standards.

Read complete letter here...

Thank you for your support,

Parvin Ahmadi, Superintendent

Meet a PFC Board Member

My name is Miriam Bettencourt and I've been a Donlon parent for the last eight years. I can't believe that this is my last year at Donlon! I love helping in my child's classroom on a weekly basis and I enjoy going to the board meetings and getting to know all the warm and friendly people in our PFC offices. It really is a good place to hear what the current issues are while making a direct impact onour school.

I love many things about this school. The smiling office staff, the personable principal, the wonderful teachers, and most of all, I love the Field Trips!!

In our years at Donlon, my kids have enjoyed fun Field Trips!  Here are a few of my favorite field trips:

Kindergarten: Pumpkin Patch! Pigeon Point (Fun day with parent, I recommend this for Dad )

First Grade: A's game (Fun family day)

Third Grade: Museum on Main (I learned so much about our town!),

Chabot Science Museum!! (Planetarium is a great place for a catnap!)

Fourth Grade: Sacramento (Railroad Museum, Old Sacramento for Candy, Wells Fargo history, Sutter's Fort and the Capitol Building! That was cool! One class almost saw the Govenator during their tour!!! Rich California History on this Field Trip!

Fifth Grade: We LOVE Outdoor Education! The kids come back so excited about Nature and Science! The kids are well taken care of by loving teachers who, next to you, know your child the best!

One of my concerns is the loss of field trips as our children grow! All these fun field trips come at a cost.   My hope is that you and your children get to enjoy these field trips as much as my family did!   These last eight years at Donlon have been so rich and life-changingfor my kids! May it be so for you and yours as well!! Thank you!!

parents. She will cover such topics as when a student is referred for
behavioral services, what a behavior assessment looks like, how a student

for students with IEPs.

This is a good opportunity to hear from Debra, meet other parents and learn
