May was National Foster Care Month and the verse that keeps coming to my mind is Philippians 1:3: "I thank my God every time I remember you."
Our "Evening With Nick Vujicic" event was a huge success with 1600 in attendance because of your hearts. You helped create a miracle in an unknown foster child's life by giving 183 scholarships for foster children to attend camp this summer.
Our "Foster Care Prayer Vigil" was a success because you took the time out of your busy schedule to spend an hour in intercessory prayer on behalf of case workers; parents; children and churches in foster care ministry.
Our "Shared Treasurers" warehouse is a success and is helping many, many area families because you take the time to bring your gently used children's clothes and new toys and gifts for foster children.
Our two appreciation events: one to recognize foster care case workers and one to honor foster families were a success because you helped us thank them for doing God's work for His children when many of us are not equipped to do what they do.
Thank you for being a church that is truly God's hands and feet and for caring for others! Thank you for being a church family that doesn't finish a project and just say, "great that is done." No, you say, "ok what is next."
Summer is officially here and yes there is still work to be done in the kingdom so I am glad you asked, "What is next?" Our Special Needs Ministry is continuing to grow with more children with special needs arriving and needing shadows. We have many dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly and some of them need breaks in the summer. We need summer volunteers to shadow new children and to give existing shadows a much deserved break. If you can give one hour on some of the Sundays this summer would you please contact Debbie Glass, Director of Special Needs Ministry at dglass@twumc.org or call 281-297-5923.
We still need a few more volunteers for our four summer camps for foster children for a list of our current needs go to our website www.gracefamilies.com.
Have a blessed and wonderful summer and help change the world by creating miracles in the lives of others. How will you and your family give yourselves away?
Blessings, Sheryl Steely
