Happy June to you all! I would like to reintroduce myself to you, my name is Katie Corley and I am the Special Blessings Ministry Coordinator. Recently, my husband Ryan and I welcomed our first child, Avery into the world. She was 8.8lbs of joy delivered into our lives April 9th. The pregnancy was wonderful and for the most part easy. The delivery was different. I was in labor for twenty hours and pushed for two hours, all to be concluded by a c-section. To me, that was a blessing and lesson in control and trust. The lesson was that God was and is in control of each and every situation in my life and in yours, and to just trust him. I learned that Avery was going to arrive in the safest and healthiest way possible and that I was not in control of how that was to happen. I learned that when I give my ten percent and trust in the Lord, he will do the other ninety percent and never leave my side.
I had been determined to push and that was not working. I know in my heart God was preparing me in those twenty long hours to "let go" and trust in Him to bring Avery to us his way, the safest way possible. I continually prayed for strength and peace as well as a safe arrival for Avery. When the decision was made for a c-section I cried. However, I felt such a rush of peace and trust come over me on the way to the operating room (OR). I knew at that moment God was taking over. I had done my part and now it was his turn. When Avery was born and I heard her cries, they were the most amazing sound I had ever heard. She was here! Heaven's blessing to us.
My family says that the Katie that went into the OR was not the same Katie that came out of the OR. The Katie that came out was joyous and at peace. I am positive that the joy and peace was God given because I had "let go" and let God have control. It is true in God's word as said in Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths". I would not change one thing about my labor and delivery. It was a perfect day and a wonderful experience and a lesson of trust learned in a beautiful way. I encourage each of you to trust God in every situation and know that the plans you have made and strive to accomplish may not be God's plans for you path of life. Know that sometimes we have to "labor" before we hear the "cries" of heaven's blessings.
