Steve's Corner

Steve Ameral fished the mouth of Tomalas Bay last week and brought in this nice Cabezon while bouncing the bottom.
Wanda Steve's wife caught this nice 22" today up river on a Bullhead.  I don't think they have ever been skunked!

Fishing Update
  • Petaluma River: Slow fishing this last week in our area. Striped Bass bite picked back up a little on Friday with our shore guys landing a few keepers.  Had a cusomer lose a 35" on a bullhead today at the point here at Port Sonoma and we also heard of a record sized Bass lost up Mira Monte Slough. They said it was the biggest Bass they have seen in their life and we found out a bout this when a couple of guys came in for their second beer run!
  • Napa River:  Striped Bass bite has been decent trolling with these mild tides.  Next weeks minus tides will bring on the dirty water as hopefully turn on the Sturgeon bite.  Haven't heard much else from this area this last week.
  • San Pablo Bay:  Leopard Shark bite has been good, and there have been a few Bass caught on the Rodeo side of the Bay.  Look for the Bass to move in due to this colder weather.
  • BaitBullhead size is medium to small with plenty in stock.  The Grass shrimp are nice sized for this time of year.  The Pileworms are JUMBO and great for Bass. MUDZILLAS are here!!! That's right you can dang near catch your own if needed, cast toward the weeds.
  • Dave Hurley provides the best detailed fishing report for the greater Bay Area.  Check it out and sign up: The Hurley Chronicles
  • Low Tides: We recommend that you do not try to boat into our slough right now unless it is high tide.  The mud is pretty thick and if you can just stop by before you launch.  We hate to see you guys mess up your engine kicking up mud on the bottom of a tide.  Until they dredge you gotta drive here before you launch.
