Fishing Update
Petaluma River: The Bass bite is hotter than a Habanero covered with Siracha! We ain't kidding folks they are biting on everything. Grass, Pile and the bait of choice: Bullheads. Rays and Sharks have been in the area as well. Many of the fish are undersized but as you can see in the Pic's below there have been some nice keepers.
Napa River: Sturgeon bite is on? we did have a few reports of Sturgeon caught this week in the Napa river. It's not wide open by any means but if you want to catch one this system is your best bet.
San Pablo Bay: Shark central out here. The bay has been salty and with that comes the Sharks. There have been Bass and even an undersized Sturgeon reported. The bite has been decent out here with the best reports coming near the mouth of Sonoma Creek.
Bait: Bullheads are the ticket Capt. Joel Says. That being said we have loads of Grass and Pile as well. We have even had a few Mudsuckers but they have been limited.
Dave Hurley provides the best detailed fishing report for the greater Bay Area. Check it out and sign up:The Hurley Chronicles
Low Tides: We recommend that you do not try to boat into our slough right now unless it is high tide. The mud is pretty thick and if you can just stop by before you launch. We hate to see you guys mess up your engine kicking up mud on the bottom of a tide. Until they dredge you gotta drive here before you launch.
Heather "Barely Legal" Graves shown here next to her 17.9 inch Bass. I don't know if the fish was small or if her hands are just that BIG. She released 11 other Bass while fishing here at Port Sonoma. Git em' Mike Casey of Diamondside fishing and Tackle brought in this 52" with live Grass Shrimp from Leonard's. he also caught a 28" and 22" Striper. As far as throwbacks they had 4 undersized Bass and even an undersized Sturgeon. Nice day in Napa! Deva Sherman and a small 28.5 pounder shown here caught off Muir Beach on monday on straight bait.
The Shark Attack Special. 1 Bag of Anchovies, 1 Box of Squid and 1 Pack of Poor Mans EEL, $10.00!
