| Fishing Update |
- Bait: There has been plenty of Grass Shrimp here at the shop! We have plenty of Pile Worms as well as Bull Heads. We are stocked up with frozen baits as well. The Perch bite is still great out in Bodega and other coastal areas with Grass Shrimp.
- ***Petaluma River***: Bass bite is solid, I released two 12-14" Bass just this morning off the dock here at Port Sonoma (Missed about 10 other bites) and the shore fisherman have reported the same. These low tides have left about a foot of water here in our slough and as we have reported the Bat Ray's have been in the area. All morning long I was able to watch the Ray's swim about with their wing tips breaking the surface of the water as they produced a wake worthy of water sports. I have since switched from light tackle to heavy rigs being that the Ray provides quite a fight. If you want to catch fish from shore we recommend this area right now due to the amount of action and tight lines! Customers have also fished the upper river (from Mira Monte to Petaluma) with Bullheads and reported limits on Bass.
- Napa River: The usual suspects: Bass, Rays and limited Sturgeon. Boaters have started trolling for Bass in the River with hair raisers and rattle traps. Here is a link to some common Striped Bass Jigs as well as info on how to use them: BASSJACK.COM
- San Pablo Bay: We had a report of a 63+ inch Sturgeon caught near the Pile Ruins which is the wooden structure a half mile north of the Pumphouse. In addition to this there are plenty of Bass, Rays and Sharks as well (see pic below).
- Sonoma Creek: The mouth of Sonoma Creek has produced Rays, Bass and even Leopard Sharks. The Bass bite is going to heat up with Bullheads in this area so get ready for some action.
- Here is a link to some information and facts about White Sturgeon. It provides great info on feeding, range, lifecycle as well as threats to the species. Check it out: WHITE-STURGEON.COM
- We recommend that you do not try to boat into our slough right now. The mud is pretty thick and if you can just stop by before you launch. We hate to see you guys mess up your engine kicking up mud on the bottom of a tide. Until they dredge you gotta drive here before you launch.
