Fishing Update
  • Petaluma River:  I got limits by 9:30 working the shop this morning (5 fish caught) and I wasn't even focused on fishing.  The stripers are thicker than the burgers at Mikes at the Crossroads.    Rays, sharks and Sturgeons as well being reported.  Either way you will catch fish while fishing near Port Sonoma.  Steve (see pics below) landed two keeper Bass on Bullheads up river today.
  • Napa River:  Large Bass being caught while night fishing this river system.  In addition we have heard that there are still Sturgeon around near Napa Slough.  Bullheads are thick in this area and we have been getting tons in our shrimp nets.  Use the type of bait the fish are feeding on.  We heard of an albino Sturgeon caught on the river but it shook the hook while on the side of the boat.
  • San Pablo Bay: A regular customer Eric showed us a photo (still waiting for the pic) of a 150 Sturgeon caught out at the Pumphouse a couple of weeks ago.  And as you can see in the photos below there was an undersized caght here at Port Sonoma.  There still are plenty of reports of these beasts rolling and jumping on the surface.
  • Sonoma Creek:  Nothing too special from this area, few fish are being caught but it is not red hot by any means.
  • BaitGrass Shrimp, Bullheads and Pile worms are in abundance!  All three have been great for Bass as well.  Use the Grass Shrimp if fishing for Sturgeon.
  • Salmon Fishing has been great this year I haven't heard about someone NOT limiting out.  Here is a nice local article about this season: Salmon Season
  • Dave Hurley provides the best detailed fishing report for the greater Bay Area.  Check it out and sign up: The Hurley Chronicles
  • Low Tides: We recommend that you do not try to boat into our slough right now unless it is high tide.  The mud is pretty thick and if you can just stop by before you launch.  We hate to see you guys mess up your engine kicking up mud on the bottom of a tide.  Until they dredge you gotta drive here before you launch.

Photo's
Here are some pic's from Tony Sanguinetti's last trip out here at Blackpoint.  He can attest to the fact that all types of fish are biting out here at the Petaluma River Three different types of fish in one trip (and an injury);  Leopard Shark, Bat Ray and an undersized Sturgeon. Thanks for the pictures Tony and we at Leonard's wish you a speedy recovery!

Here is Dexter "Last Cast" Tracy and his 30" Striped Bass.  His friends were done fishing and in the car when he landed this on a Bulhead and a good old fashioned Chinkadero!  We like your style.
