2 Minute Health Check |
The 2 Minute Health Check System is a "tool" where the end product is effectively an agenda for you and your client to discuss their needs and wants in many areas of their business and personal life. Introducing this tool in the New Year allows your clients to re-address their priorities and take care of any issues they may face in the upcoming year. Send to your clients early in the tax season for their review. The Health Checks should be completed by the client, together with the Partner or Manager, who should be able to explain any terminology. Ideally, because the Health Check establishes quite clear areas of need, it should be used to effect the introduction to your other services. The form provides a useful compliance item to be retained on file. It illustrates that you have raised these issues with the client, even if they are not prepared to pursue them. You might send a subsequent letter confirming the consequences of inaction. Please ensure that you have a system in place to log the completion of these Health Checks. It might be a good idea to use the responses to categorise client data on your Contact Management Database for future targeted follow-up

Leadership Lessons
Driven Home by the Struggles of U.S. Automakers
- Justin Pinkerman (Leadership Wired) |
|
Lately, news headlines have been dominated by the debate over a potential bailout of the American automakers. The economic recession has dented the sales of new vehicles, which has thinned the pocketbooks of auto manufacturers. Already in a precarious position due to past instances of mismanagement, Detroit's Big Three find themselves approaching a cash flow crisis.
Heated discussion continues on what, if any, action should be taken by the government to rescue the automakers. The purpose of this article isn't to argue for or against a bailout, but rather to point out the leadership lessons that have surfaced during the debate. Amid the bailout talks, three maxims standout as worthy of note, namely:
- Wealth Makes Waste, Fight to Stay Lean
- Once Broken, Trust Must Be Restored at a Premium
- During Downturns, Leaders Model the Way of Frugality
