msp reporting: liability claims

AIA Seeks Additional Delay in Section 111 Medicare Secondary Payer Reporting.

The American Insurance Association has sent a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, requesting that she direct the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to further delay the October 1, 2011 date for Property & Casualty insurers' collection of information regarding settlements, judgments and awards and first quarter 2012 mandatory insurer reporting obligations for liability claims under MMSEA Section 111.

CMS had previously said it would delay the implementation of Medicare Secondary Payer mandatory reporting requirements for P&C insurers until January 1, 2012 for liability claims that do not involve ongoing medical responsibility. > Read AIA's letter.
