Greetings! | |
Our friends at Victorian Villa Rehabilitation and Living Center sent us the following little known facts about Christmas:
- A Christmas wreath hanging on your front door is a sign of welcome and a wish for long life to all who enter.
- For every Christmas tree harvested, 2 to 3 seedlings are planted in its place.
We hope that you receive many warm welcomes this holiday season, and our wish for you is that this Hi-Five describes Five Features That Make Your Job Easier in 2012.
Four of the items below describe program changes provided with Release 11.12, recently posted to our website.
Hi-Tech Holiday Hours: Hi-Tech will celebrate together on Thursday, December 22 from noon to 2 p.m. During that time our voice mail system will pick up your calls. At 2 p.m. our Support Team will begin returning calls from anyone who has requested assistance during that time.
The Hi-Tech office will be closed on Monday, December 26. We will re-open on Tuesday, December 27 at 8 a.m.

Hi-One: Record Rates by Effective Date
With Release 11.12, you can record Medicare Co-Insurance and Res Care Rates by Effective Date. The Hi-Tech Select Bills programs will look at the Effective date and use the applicable rate to create bills. Enter the Effective Date and Rate under:
- Resident Accounting System > Libraries > Facility > Facility Rates.
or - Exception Billing > UB04 Form Billing > Libraries-Billing > Facility Rates.
After you install Release 11.12, you can enter the 2012 Medicare Co-Insurance Rate of $144.50, effective 01/01/2012.
After you complete December Medicare B billing, enter the 2012 Therapy cap amount of $1880.00. Under Resident Accounting > Libraries > Facility > Accounting Profile > Screen 2: Medicare B Limitation: 1880.00 for PT-ST and 1880.00 for OT.

Hi-Two: MDS-RCA Submission Goes Online
Starting January 1, 2012, Maine Residential Care Facilities will no longer submit MDS-RCA records on diskette or CD. Instead, you will upload the MDS-RCA file to the Maine MDS Submission Management System (SMS).
Learn more about SMS at http://muskie.usm.maine.edu/mds/ under Residential Care Facility Links > SMS: Maine MDS Submission Management System.
On December 7, Hi-Tech emailed instructions on how to create your MDS-RCA submission file and access SMS. You can also find these instructions on our website at www.Hi-TechSoftware.com > Clients > Important Instructions > Submit MDS-RCA to Maine MDS Submission Management System.

Hi-Three: Remove an Inactivated MDS from a Resident's MDS History
When you submit an MDS Inactivation record, this removes the inactivated MDS from the CMS system and leaves the original MDS and Inactivation record in the resident's MDS history.
With Release 11.12, after you submit an Inactivation record and it is accepted by CMS, you can "deactivate" and remove both the original, inactivated MDS and its Inactivation record from the resident's viewable history. MDS reporting will list deactivated records.
This change allows you to create a new MDS record using the same date and reason as an MDS that has been inactivated and removed.
After Release 11.12 has been installed on your system, please see the instructions for this process in the Update Memo.

Hi-Four: Correct AP Batches Posted to Wrong Period or Year
With Release 11.12, it will be much easier to correct a batch of invoices or payments posted to a wrong period or year.
Under Accounts Payable > File Utilities, choose Update AP/GL Batch Posting. Select the Batch Type (Invoices or Payments) and enter the Batch Number. The screen will display the items in that batch and allow you to make the correction.
The General Ledger will maintain the original batch number and include "AP4X" in the description.

Hi-Five: Record HSA and Health Insurance for W-2 Reporting
Report employer HSA contributions on the 2011 W-2s in Box 12, coded as W.
Employer health insurance expenses are optional for 2011 W-2s, and will be required on 2012 W-2s.
With Release 11.12, Hi-Tech has added Edit HSA Insurance Stats to the Payroll > Employee Processing menu, and also the Prepare W-2s > Maintenance (Last Year) menu. Use this program to record employer HSA and Health Insurance contributions for each employee who receives those benefits.
Learn more about this program in the Release 11.12 Update Memo.
