Not only is planet
earth, and everything on it, the property of God; the entire universe is God's
creation. If we continue to insist
on refusing the thought of the earth, and its inhabitants, belonging to God, we
will never get a glimpse of the bigger picture of the universe, or of the
Mastermind behind it. I had a
chance, recently, to look at a picture taken from the Hubble Telescope Ultra
Deep Field. It humbled me to say
the least.
Our galaxy is but only a
speck in the grand design of the universe. Through the lens of this extremely powerful telescope, we
can for the first time see countless galaxies billions of light years
away. It both amazes and amuses me
that after witnessing such a spectacle anyone can still feel as if they know
all there is to know about God!
How could we ever believe that our man-made doctrines and dogmas have
the ability to contain or confine the Infinite? God is far too big for us to boast mastery of His mystery.
When we approach an awesome creative life
source like God with the attitude that we know, it doesn't threaten Him,
it only patronizes our ignorance and threatens our own knowing. The reality of the universe is bigger
than our ability to comprehend it.
And so is the reality of the God who created it!

Quote of the Week
"Our earth is but a small
star in a great universe. Yet of
it we can make, if we choose, a planet unvexed by war, untroubled by hunger or
fear, undivided by senseless distinctions of race, color or theory." -
Stephen Vincent Benet
