The Connecticut Fair Housing Center is a state-wide non-profit that The Connecticut Fair Housing Center is a private non-profit fair housing organization serving the entire state of Connecticut. The Center's principal focus is on removing barriers to full housing choice particularly for Connecticut's low-income residents.
To assist all of Connecticut residents in gaining access to the housing of their choice, the Center:
- Provides assistance principally to low-income households pursuing legal rights and remedies related to fair housing;
- Offers fair housing intake, investigation, referral, and counseling services principally to low-income households;
- Provides legal representation principally to low-income victims of housing discrimination;
- Works with governmental entities to ensure that housing programs provide equal housing opportunities principally for low-income households;
- Provides community education, technical assistance, and capacity building principally to low-income households and the low-income housing provider community on fair housing issues;
- Promotes community involvement and resource development in fair housing issues;
- Conducts research and develops models related to fair housing;
- Conducts monitoring and enforcement to prevent discriminatory practices; and
- Advocates for policies and programs which expand available housing opportunities for all people.
