What is fair housing testing? Testing is a process designed to identify whether or not people looking for housing are treated differently. Testing allows us to measure and document differences in the quality, content, and quantity of information and services provided with regard to a house or apartment.
Can anyone apply? Yes, so long as you have voicemail or an answering machine, transportation and are thorough and objective. Our funders also require that testers have no direct ties to the housing industry and have no criminal convictions for felony, fraud or perjury.
Do I need training? This training will prepare you to perform tests for the Center.
What is the time commitment? The time commitment can vary significantly depending on your schedule and interest and the Center's testing needs.
Can I be paid for my testing work? Yes. The Center provides its testers with a small stipend and provides reimbursement for certain expenses.
How do I apply? Call Letty Ortiz (860-247-4400) at the Connecticut Fair Housing Center. She will connect you to a staff member who will conduct a short interview and then give you details on the training.
