ARC and Enterprise will convene first Piece by Piece WebEx for Local Government Staff 

 

On Friday, August 19, ARC and Enterprise Community Partners will host the first in what will be an ongoing series of WebEx seminars designed to provide local government PBP partners with best practice information on NSP, code enforcement, building a county-based PBP response and a host of other issues facing local counties. Tanesha Lanier from Rockdale County will be presenting on Rockdale's NSP partnership with local real estate professionals. Local government staff interested in participating on Friday's call, please contact Susan Adams at sadams@andpi.org for more details.

 

 

LAST CALL: West Metro Foreclosure Workshop Scheduled for August 18

 

The Westside Homebuilders Association (WHBA) and Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) invite you to join us on Thursday, August 18th from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Douglasville Conference Center as we examine the impact of the foreclosure crisis on west metro Atlanta local governments and communities.  The event is specifically targeted to benefit Carroll, Coweta, Douglas, Haralson and Paulding counties however, all metro Atlanta counties are invited.  The workshop will address many of the best practices underway in metro Atlanta to address the impacts of foreclosures and outline actions that can occur locally to improve responses by both public and private sectors. More Details & Registration

 

 

FHFA, Treasury, HUD Consider Rental Strategies for Government-Owned REO properties and Seek Input from Stakeholders

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), in consultation with HUD and the US Treasury, is seeking input on new options for disposition of single-family real estate (REO) owned by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and FHA. The agencies have announced a Request for Information (RFI) seeking input from all interested parties by September 15.  The agencies are expecting two types of comments:  (1) input from a wide range of market participants, stakeholders, community groups and industry observers with specific suggestions for enhancing market outcomes in the disposition of REO properties; and (2) responses from market participants that have the technical and financial capability to engage in large-scale transactions with Fannie and Freddie and/or FHA involving disposition of REO.   

 

 

DeKalb County Land Bank

DeKalb County's efforts to launch a land bank were the focus of a recent AJC article noting that the County had the third highest number of foreclosures in the state over the past two years. Piece by Piece partners Livable Communities Coalition (LCC) and the Center for Community Progress have been working in collaboration to improve Georgia's land banking statute. Read the Article

 

 

Housing Forum to Examine Special Needs Housing Population; September 7, 9:30 AM

 

Our regional community is a complex quilt of many people with a variety of housing needs. Unfortunately, "supportive" or "special needs" affordable housing demands remain unmet while financial and other resources are available through various governmental agencies. How can our region better connect a growing number of individuals and families with unmet housing needs to existing resources and identify new resources?
