Greetings!
Thanks for your continued support of the Piece by Piece effort. Please note some important news items, announcements, and opportunities to take action below.
Critical Role of Counseling in Preventing Foreclosures
We all know that housing counseling is a critical piece of the puzzle in helping families avoid foreclosure. Piece by Piece partner the National Housing Conference recently released this white paper on the important role that counseling plays in preventing foreclosures. DOWNLOAD
Your Voice is Needed to Protect Funds for Counseling
On July 14, the US House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation and Housing and Urban Development will vote on funding for housing counseling in the 2012 budget. When HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan spoke at the Piece by Piece Midyear Update in May, he asked for our help. He asked us to "raise our voices and be heard" on the difference that counseling can make in protecting individual families and entire communities from the blight and devastation caused by foreclosures. The National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC) provides the following link to sign a petition and/or send letters to Appropriations Members to let them know that housing counseling is too important to lose. Greening NSP Homes
There is still space available for the HUD NSP Green Regional Workshop sponsored by Piece by Piece partner Enterprise Community Partners at Doubletree Guest Suites, Atlanta Galleria on July 19, 2011. This innovative workshop will provide NSP grantees and their affiliates who carry out redevelopment activities with the information they need to develop green and healthy housing. With a focus on peer-to-peer conversation and learning, this workshop will help grantees and their partners the opportunity to build consensus among team members, seek guidance from industry leaders, and increase the efficiency of their programs. We hope you will join us at this exciting workshop! REGISTER
