It's Still Not to Late to Take Advantage of the Treasury's Renewable Energy Cash Grant
Even though the 30% Federal Treasury 1603 renewable energy cash grant may still be set to expire by year's end, there is still time to be eligible for the 5% Safe Harbor Provision which states a system only needs to qualify as 5% "in progress" or "under construction" by December 31, 2011 to still qualify for the full 30% cash grant.

Beaumont Solar Launches First 5 Projects of the City of New Bedford's 10MW Solar Initiative
|
(left to right) Phil Cavallo, President & CEO Beaumont Solar, Ted Donat from the US Department of Energy and New Bedford Mayor Scott Lang following the solar press conference on October 21, 2011 in Downtown New Bedford |
New Bedford Mayor Scott Lang officially announced on October 21, 2011 the City of New Bedford's signed PPA (power purchase agreement) with ConEdison Solutions for the installation of up to 10MW of solar renewable energy systems to be implemented citywide.
Beaumont Solar has a lead position in the project and has already completed the design, permitting, and is now installing the first five systems of the effort. The systems consist of both penetrating and non-penetrating ballasted roof-mount systems, all utilizing American made Sharp panels. This first phase of projects will be completed by year-end 2011.
In addition, Beaumont Solar has made a commitment to employ local New Bedford residents in this project. To date, nearly a dozen residents have been hired by the company.
Click on one of the project photos below to see a gallery of photos taken and updated regularly as the installations progress. Beaumont's additional projects at the city's Keith Middle School and the Community Center Gymnasium have just commenced as well.

Site Design Surveys for Assessing your Solar Potential
Have a climbing electric bill, the desire to switch to renewable energy, but not sure if your property is suited for solar? Perhaps you have acreage and are considering a utility-scale install but are not sure of the cost. We've designed a comprehensive site design survey package just for that purpose.
Beaumont Solar's site survey package consists of a full assessment of your business, land lot and surrounding grounds and buildings to determine:
- location of proposed PV system
- measurements of all design factors including roof or ground space, shading and proper azimuth
- initial structural analysis
- initial analysis of existing electrical system and grid voltage / connection points
Proper system production takes proper planning as no two locations are the same and our site design survey package will help you do that. Package deliverables will include:
- a recommendation of the most cost effective system
- structural engineering analysis
- electrical engineering analysis
- location of electrical components; inverters, wires, runs, etc.
- system cost and financial analysis of savings and payback period
To evaluate how solar energy can benefit your business or residence, contact Beaumont Solar at 508-990-1701 for an expert analysis designed to your site's unique characteristics.

106,500 Square Feet and Grid-Free!
| 2,304 solar panels now power this entire 106,500 sq ft facility in Milford |
Executives at Clarke Distribution will no longer cringe when the utility bill arrives thanks to one of the fifth largest Massachusetts rooftop solar installations that sits atop their roof. Beaumont Solar designed and installed this 460.80kW array which will produce an average of 1,800 kilowatt hours per day to power Clarke's operations, a distributor of high-end kitchen appliances.
The building houses 75 refrigerators, a fully-functional television studio, numerous computers and lighting, yet none of which will be vulnerable to rising Massachusetts utility rates again.
Financially, the choice for renewable energy was logical. Through tax incentives, revenue from solar renewable energy credits (SRECs), and the elimination of their electric bill, the entire system will have paid for itself within 4 years.
Environmentally, the company will shine as a leader in their community inspiring others as they self-produce 572,079kWh per year, or the equivalent of removing 61.3 cars from the road or the power consumed by 37.9 average American homes every year. Consolidation and Competition
US Solar Industry Outperforms Global Market
Stories of solar company mergers, acquisitions and bankruptcy filings have frequented the headlines over the past few quarters. Yet the US solar industry continues on a path to becoming the largest solar market in the world by 2014 with a total of 3,100MW installed in the US so far as of Q2 2011.
But how is this possible? Two words: consolidation and competition. As the solar industry began to show signs of becoming the fastest growing energy sector in the US, thousands of solar companies began to flood the market sparking private investment and creating jobs. But along with this came saturation, forcing renewable energy manufacturing and implementation companies to become more cost effective to survive independently or make the decision to merge or be acquired by their competitors.
Admittedly, some companies could not make necessary cost cuts and turned to bankruptcy. Yet what has ultimately transpired from all the company shuffles is the driving force behind all industries...competition.
Competition has driven down the cost of solar thereby increasing demand and ultimately benefiting the American consumer. This has continued to create job growth within the industry, with 27 new US solar manufacturing facilities opening, or about to open in the US since 2010.
 |
Source: SEIA |
So as the industry goes through a spirt of consolidation, what has emerged is a stronger set of solar integrators that have installed 69% more grid-connected PV systems by Q2 2011 than that of Q2 2010. By year-end, there will be nearly 1,750MW installed in 2011, double that of 2010.
