Will Japan be More Natural than Nuclear?
Reports suggest that Prime Minister Naotoo Kan of Japan may persue a plan that would require all new buildings, including homes, be equipped with solar panels by 2030.
Following the March 11 earthquake that created multiple nuclear plant failures in the region, Japan has pledged to review its energy policies and focus more on renewable sources. Currently, 30 percent of Japan's electricity comes from nuclear sources.

Planning Ahead for Solar
Carbon emissions, surging gas prices, what's next?
The electric car of course.
Automaker Ford Chairman Bill Ford reports that by 2020, 25 percent of the company's car production will be electric vehicles (EV). To power these clean-energy cars, the US Department of Energy recently awarded $100 million in funds for companies chosen to install nearly 11,000 charging stations in the US.
The charging of a future electric car is something more and more people have been adding to their list of reasons for installing solar. They figure why would they want to increase their carbon footprint by using grid power to charge their EV, when they're trying to reduce carbon? And naturally to follow will be an increasing number of solar powered public charging stations appearing in various locations throughout the US.

What's The Sun Been Up To These Days?
Few saw it, but NASA cameras captured a solar flare erupt into a cloud that appeared to cover almost half of the sun's surface this past June. Scientist said that very few effects were felt here on earth however beyond a few disruptions to high-frequency radio communications and some minimal errors in GPS devices, due to the cloud's momentary interference with the earth's magnetic field.
This event isn't actually rare, and in fact, was expected by Scientists as the sun is in the midst of an 11-year solar cycle, due to come to completion in 2013, where the sun's magnetic field reverses its orientation.

Beaumont Solar CEO Attends World's Largest Solar Event in Munich, Germany
Finds Great Promise in Latest Solar Technology
| Phil Cavallo, President & CEO of Beaumont Solar inspects some of the latest solar technology that would be of benefit to his customers. |
Phil Cavallo, President & CEO of Beaumont Solar attended the inter-solar conference in Munich, Germany. Germany is the the world's largest solar market and represents 50% of the world's total solar consumption. This trip to the largest solar conference in the world "gives [the company] the confidence to know that it is at the forefront of a rapidly expanding multi-billion dollar industry", says Cavallo. It is important for Beaumont Solar to maintain a competitive edge by researching and discovering solutions that bring the most value to customers.
Reflecting back on the trip, Cavallo said he was most fascinated with the world's adoption of solar. There were over 100,000 people at the conference with 15 buildings full of exhibits and an outdoor pavilion. "Blown away", was how Cavallo described his reaction to the conference and said it was obvious to see what a big $70 billion industry solar is by just being there.
Cavallo learned about new technology, new applications for existing products, and new utility scale applications and a lot more. On display at the show were water-cooled inverters in which the inverter will operate at a peak efficiency of 98.2% due to technology which keeps it cool. Also on display were a lot of electric cars with solar carports for homes and businesses. Cavallo was very much impressed with the automation of solar farm installation and machines developed for this application.
Beaumont Solar plans to attend another solar conference in Dallas, TX known as the Solar Power International taking place in October. Cavallo plans to incorporate German technology into future product offerings as well as new products from Scandinavia/Italy. Beaumont Solar hopes to build their first solar carport system this year as well.
For further information or questions about solar technology and the various technologies the company currently offers, we invite you to email or call Phil Cavallo personally at 508-990-1701.

Moving History into the Future; Largest Commercial Installation in the City!
Darn It!, Inc. will soon be saying "Love It!" when they see their utility bills, as their roof becomes the largest commercial solar rooftop in the city of New Bedford, ready to proudly lead the historic Belleville Avenue factory district into the future by producing 100% of its own power. They have selected Beaumont Solar to design and install a 281 kilowatt Solyndra system. Roof work will begin in mid-July with installation in August.
|
Aerial of the 686 Belleville Ave building in New Bedford's factory district that will soon be producing 100% of its own solar energy power |
For this particular system, the roofing and solar system will both qualify for the 30% Treasury cash grant. The Solyndra panels, made of cylindrical tubes, work in combination with a white "cool" roofing for 360 degree sun absorption. Therefore, as a necessary part of the overall system, the roofing costs also qualify for the grant.
This particular building, located at 686 Belleville Avenue, has stood the test of time and was once known as the New Bedford Manufacturing Co in the early 1900's. It has served as home to multiple companies over the years, and will now be a showcase of how history can be moved into the future as it continues operations into the 21st century by operating in a clean, renewable and environmentally conscious manner.
As the company selected to implement this first-of-its-size installation on a New Bedford commercial building, Beaumont Solar also has a nearly 100 year tie to the city. Just like this building itself, Beaumont Solar has also moved history into the future through renewable energy. Beaumont Solar is an outgrowth of the Beaumont Sign Co. that was established in 1918 by Fredrick Beaumont. The company was purchased in 2006 by Phil Cavallo when the sign industry began to slow, with a vision to utilize the company's already existing staff and in-house capabilities and move it into the growing renewable energy industry. With new employees and still employing third-generation Beaumont family members today, the company's solar division is now the largest in all of Southeastern Massachusetts.
For questions on this first-of-its-kind installation, email or call Phil Cavallo, President of Beaumont Solar at 508-990-1701.

Clarke Distribution will Celebrate Grid "Independence" this July
| Beamount Solar lifts the pallets of 2,304 panels to the roof for install |
In the beginning of June, Beaumont Solar installers lifted the 2,304 American-made Solyndra solar panels that arrived by rail to their new home; the roof of the Clarke Distribution headquarters in Milford, MA.

| The final panels have been laid down to complete the 460.8kW array |
By July 7, all panels were in place and the
460.8kW system is on track for utility approval. Once officially placed in service, Clarke's 106,500 square foot complex will have "Grid Indepednent" with net zero energy consumption.
Just imagine the savings to operating expenses this system will produce for Clarke when their high-performance appliance showroom, culinary center, television studio and warehouse are all powered independent of the grid.
Clarke's continued commitment to carbon reduction, American-made products and job creation are all factors in their decision to produce their own clean energy by utilizing a company that has that same philosophy to commitment the way Beaumont Solar does because we design, supply, install, maintain and stand behind every system we implement.
