Greetings!

Dear Parents:

During the months of May and June, the general feeling of most is that school is winding down, preparing for the summer. At PCS, this is the furthest thing from reality.  There are so many things left to do and enjoy. In May, there is Night at the Museum, The Whole-In-One Golf Tournament, and Community Family Day, as well as track and field. In June there is the Impacting for Life Fundraising Cruise, Grade Eight Graduation, Wonderland  trip, Medieval Times, as well as junior and senior baseball.

As we desire to finish well, please continue to pray for the school's staff and students as we work together in all areas of school life.

Yours in His Service,

The registration fee this year is $150/golfer and includes golf, cart, thank you gift, and 3 meals (continental breakfast, lunch and dinner).  It will once again be a shotgun tournament with a 10:00 a.m. start, and we hope to be done and on our way home by 5:30 p.m.  Our Online Auction is now live!!  Visit
www.wholeinonegolfauction.ca to see and bid on all the great items available.  The auction ends on May 9, 2012.  We hope you will consider supporting PCS through these opportunities.
Impact for Life Fundraising Cruise
June 4, 2012 @ 6:30 p.m.

This year's Impact for Life event will be quite memorable as we will be cruising the Toronto Harbour on the stunning Yankee Lady III Charter Yacht.  Tickets for the event can be purchased online for $25/person, by visiting www.pickeringcs.on.ca/impactforlife  or by contacting Dave Park at 905-427-3120 ext. 24.  A copy of the invitation will be coming home today.  If you would like some more invitations to pass on to friends and family, please contact the office.   Each attendee will enjoy dinner, an uplifting short program and plenty of time to enjoy the scenery.  Space is limited, so be sure to register soon.  Our goal is to raise $50,000 through adding new members to our donor society, as well as one-time donations. We hope you will consider joining us for what promises to be a  great evening in support of PCS.

Community Family Day
Carnival
The excitement levels are rising! Community Day is fast approaching.

A Few New Things!!!

New inflatables this year:  Circus Obstacle Course, 4 Man Olympic Joust, Bungee Run, Rope Ladder, Happy Face Room

A New Activity:  10 Themed Gift Baskets - Each grade is putting together a themed gift basket.  We are hoping to raise funds to offset some of the costs associated with the day.

Your class mom will be calling about contributions towards your grade's basket.  Note:  If you have three children, you will be asked to contribute to only ONE basket.   If anyone has empty baskets that they would like to donate, please drop them off at the office.

Last year's Chili-Cook-Off was so much fun!  We had approximately 8 contestants all competing to be No. 1. Ballots were handed out and intense voting took place. It's a great deal - $5.00 gets you a PCS Mug and unlimited chili.  We are actually looking for more chili-makers!!!

Call either your class mom or e-mail Chris Quinn at cquinn@pickeringcs.on.ca if you can assist.   We are looking for more volunteers this year.

Any alumni students looking for community hours?  Please call Chris Quinn.

Garage Sale
The Grade 8 class will be running the garage sale during the PCS Community Day on May 26th.  If you have any gently used items to donate, please drop them off at the school during the following dates and times:

Monday, May 14th - 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Wednesday, May 16th and 23rd - 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Friday, May 18th - 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Friday, May 25th - 3:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

We are looking for items in good condition.  Toys that are still working with all parts included are always a big seller.  Household items, books, CD's, holiday items, sports equipment, tools, clothing and any other items you feel could be sold would be appreciated.

If you have any large items that you are unable to transport, please contact the school and arrangements can be made to have them picked up.

Friday Freeziefreezes

On May 11th, 18th and 25th the Grade 8's will be selling freezies for a loonie.    They will set up outside at lunch to sell the freezies.  Anyone interested in purchasing a freezie on those Fridays should come with a loonie.

Work Bee

On Saturday, April 28, 2012, there was a work bee at PCS to spruce up the gardens.  They look amazing!  Thank you to all the parents who came out and worked so hard to help make the transformation happen.

2011 - 2012 PCS Family Engagement Survey

PCS is very interested in what you have to say about your child's educational experience and our engagement with you as a family.  Whether it is about your child's academic, social, spiritual or emotional needs, we want to hear about it.

Similar to the PCS Family Survey distributed in 2011, we would like you to consider filling out the online survey for this year.  You can access the survey here

www.surveymonkey.com/s/PCS_family_survey

or you can pick up a paper copy in the office.  There will be a drop box available in the office for the completed paper surveys.

Please complete the survey by Monday, May 21st.  All families who complete the survey can choose to enter into a draw for 1 of 5 movie passes for 4.

J.K. Mother's Day Special

The Junior Kindergarten class is practicing for a special presentation for their moms on Thursday, May 10th, at 10:30 a.m.  Please pray for the students and teachers as they prepare for this special day.
