Greetings!

Dear Parents:

On Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 6:30pm we will be hosting our second annual Night @the Museum.

This is an evening of celebrating the Arts at PCS. Each classroom is arrayed in projects and activities that the students have been working on. As well, the music classes will perform various pieces to enhance the evening. The students work so hard to prepare the class projects that we felt the whole school family should visit the classrooms and look at the various endeavours. There will also be some light refreshments supplied by the grade 7/8 cooking elective crew.

The variety and quality is amazing, so set this day on your calendar and be sure to invite friends and neighbours to see what goes on at PCS. The evening is a drop in format so if you have younger children you can come early at 6:30pm or wait till another time in the evening. Lights out at 8:30pm.

See you there!

Yours in His Service,

Pickering Christian School
Mikey Defibrillator

PCS feels that it is time to install a defibrillator on site.  There are many people of all ages who come through our doors on a regular basis.  The Mikey Network is a registered charity that raises funds in order to place "Mikey" defibrillators into the community. Their committee has recommended that a defibrillator be offered to PCS at one-half of the cost.  This represents a cost to the school of  $1,500 per unit.

We are hosting a fundraising event called it a "Mother/Daughter Zumba Night.  " The tickets would be $10.00 each and the proceeds will be used to purchase the defib unit.  To reserve  your tickets please email Chris Quinn at cquinn@pickeringcs.on.ca. by Monday, April 23rd.  After that point the tickets will be offered up to outside Zumba enthusiasts.

"Whole-in-One" Golf Tournament
Thursday, May 10, 2012 @ Royal Ashburn
It is time once again to pull out those golf clubs and join us in supporting PCS at our 11th Annual "Whole-in-One" Golf Tournament.  This year promises to be a great day of fun, connecting with friends and enjoying some fantastic golf.  Details for the day, including registering online, can be found by visiting our website www.pickeringcs.on.ca/golf

The registration fee this year is $150/golfer and includes golf, cart, thank you gift, and 3 meals (continental breakfast, lunch and dinner).  It will once again be a shotgun tournament, with a 10:00 a.m. start, and we hope to be all done and on our way home by 5:30 p.m.
As always, we will have a great raffle table and live auction.  New this year  to our golf tournament will be the introduction of an Online Auction.  This will allow those who are unable to join us, or who do not golf, to help support the work of PCS as well.  More details about the Online Auction will come to you in the upcoming weeks.

We hope you will be able to join us for what has become a great event in support of the mission of PCS.
Night At The MuseumMuseum
Wednesday, May 16, 2012
6:30 p.m. - 8:30p.m.
Over the past few years, PCS has put on a "Project Extravaganza" night which we have entitled  Night At The Museum.  This is a night where the students' projects are put  on display and parents are invited to come and view them.  The format of the evening is an open house drop-in style.  Please mark this date
on your calendar.
Community Family DayCarnival
We hope you will be able to join us for our annual PCS Community Family Day on Saturday, May 26th.  On top of the gigantic Garage Sale and the different inflatable rides, we will once again be hosting our Chili Contest, Dunk Tank and Pony Rides.

This is a great way for us to introduce friends, family and neighbours to PCS in a non-threatening way.  Over the last 4 years that we have run the Community Family Day, we have averaged close to 1500 visitors each year.

We are looking for MANY volunteers for this event!  It runs from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Class Moms will be calling you soon to ask for a couple of hours of your time on this day!  This is a huge outreach to our community and PCS really needs you!

The event also provides an opportunity for our own families to connect and allows alumni families and students to re-connect.  There are also opportunities for some of our alumni students, who are in high school, to acquire some of their needed volunteer hours.  If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Quinn.

Garage Sale
On Monday, May 14, 2012, the tractor trailer will be on- site to receive your gently used treasures.  A more detailed schedule will be posted in next week's Friday Facts.
Impact for Life Fundraising Cruise
June 4, 2012 @ 6:30 p.m.
Yankee Lady

This year's Impact for Life event will be quite memorable as we will be cruising the Toronto Harbour on the stunning Yankee Lady III Charter Yacht.  Tickets for the event can be purchased online for $25/person, by visiting www.pickeringcs.on.ca/impactforlife. Each attendee will enjoy dinner, relaxing music, and an uplifting program, all with the evening Toronto Skyline as a beautiful backdrop.  Space is limited, so be sure to register soon.  Our goal is to raise $50,000 through adding new members to our donor society, as well as one-time donations. We hope you will consider joining us for what promises to be a  great evening in support of PCS.

J.K. Mother's Day Special

The Junior Kindergarten class is practicing for a special presentation for their moms on Thursday, May 10th, at 10:30 a.m.  Please pray for the students and teachers as they prepare for this special day.
