HIV and Aging Educational Program
While HIV/AIDS has been affecting
the world for over 30 years,
many social workers may not have
had the opportunity to learn more than just the basic facts. Seabury Resources for Aging and The Methodist Home of DC present this workshop, which will be broken down into two sections.
The first section will provide social workers with an overview of HIV/AIDS, including the definitions of HIV and AIDS, how HIV progresses, the impact on one's life after diagnosis, current treatment options and prevention methods.
The second section will focus on the incidence and prevalence of HIV/AIDS in the DC Metro area, and how the disease is affecting people 50 years and older. This section will also discuss the role of social workers in working with patients and their families, and the impact of common myths on patients.
Friday, May 17, 2013
9 AM - 12 PM
4901 Connecticut Ave, NW
Registration begins at 8:30 AM,
complimentary breakfast will be offered
