Late Fall & Early Winter Camping While some have already put their camping equipment away for the winter, many realize that Fall and early Winter offer some of the best camping of the year. As the leaves fall to the ground, the hills are revealed in a very different way. Daytime temperatures are cool enough [high 40s and 50s] so hiking is a real pleasure, and the cooler nights make for great sleeping. The craft and antique stores are warm with potential Christmas gifts. Later this year, we will be closing parts of the campground, but most of the sites will remain available. And, we still have cabins available for every weekend through New Years. Pack a sweater and come on up. |
December Deals! Stay 1, get 50% off 2nd night! It's our holiday treat to you! Out & About At Trackrock It's The Pits, Man! Campfires are an inherent part of the camping experience. Whether you enjoy them for the warmth, smells and sounds while being mesmerized by the flames or for letting your body and mind relax while gazing out at the surrounding scenery, the building of it is worth the rewards. You may like them for the backdrop while watching your favorite fall fare, be it college football, racing, or a Mayberry marathon, but for whatever reason you must admit a good campfire is both comfort and ambiance. Has there ever been a kid, upon getting a campsite set up, not yelled "Let's make S'mores!" A good fire can provide both a fine dinner of hotdogs and a dessert of brown marshmallows and there is no kitchen detail for Mom (well, hardly any). At Trackrock we understand what a nice evening around a fire means to campers. If you haven't noticed already - and I'm sure you will now - there is a well maintained fire pit at every campsite in the grounds, along with a huge bonfire pit close to the lake. Our bonfires are notorious for bringing out the likes of Hilda Broom, the witch who loves to tell tales around Halloween, which she did again this year. Yes, fires are as much a part of the camping life as tent stakes and lounge chairs. Fires seem to bring out the best in us; a smile, an all out laugh and a story or two. If you haven't enjoyed the experience of an open fire pit, friends and family gathered around and your mind at ease watching a fire show lately, then you need to get yourself on up here to Trackrock where we understand the importance of a good fire experience. Firewood is available at the Trackrock office 24/7. During the day check at the desk, after hours we have the Honor System in place. It's the pits, Man, in a good way! "The fire is the main comfort of the camp, whether in summer or winter, and is about as ample at one season as at another. It is as well for cheerfulness as for warmth and dryness." ~Henry David Thoreau
