Pack the Car and Come to the Mountains!

It's time to consider heading to the mountains and to enjoy a getaway at Trackrock!  We have lots of spots open for weekday stays and the last weekend in October and on into November.

Days have been absolutely beautiful and we have some early Fall color showing.  Dogwoods and sourwoods are just starting to turn!  Wonderful cool temps and clear, blue skies.  Great weather to enjoy hiking, biking, horseback riding, campfires or just relaxing in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains!

Fall is full of activities and a great time to visit Trackrock!   Imagine cool, crisp breezes, amazing Fall color, great festivals. It's a great time for outdoor activities. Take a hike, see waterfalls, fish in the pond, take a hayride or horseback ride. Or just sit and enjoy the quiet beauty.

Whether you plan to make a day trip, take a long weekend, or spend a week, make plans to enjoy watching the mountain colors turn from green to a palette of wonderful color into early November! You'll be glad you did and we will be glad to see you!

Come spend some time with us this Fall!
Camping Etiquette 103

"Aren't these leaves beautiful.  I think I'll break off this branch and take the leaves home to press".  And "Dad, please cut me a stick from this bush for roasting marshmallows".  Or "I'm just going to put a nail in this tree to hang my Coleman lantern up high so all can see".

These are all statements we at Trackrock hear every Fall and hate to hear.  Our trees and shrubs are part of the natural beauty of Trackrock and  breaking off limbs, cutting branches and hanging hot lanterns on trees are all things that can hurt, or even kill our plants and trees.  So follow a couple simple rules to help keep our trees alive.

  1. Don't cut limbs or break off branches.  If it is attached to a tree or bush leave it; if it is on the ground, have at it.
  2. Make sure your hot lanterns and campfires don't singe our plant life.
  3. Don't cut down wood to burn.  There is a lot of wood on the ground; use it as you wish and remember we sell firewood.
  4. Nails hurt trees just as they would hurt you if pounded in.
  5. Strings and ropes choke trees unless removed promptly after use.
  6. Talk with your children about preserving nature.

We at Trackrock, our plants, and your fellow campers appreciate your consideration.  Remember, our young trees are YOUR future shade!.

 November and Thanksgiving Reservations

Full hook-up sites for October are filling up very quickly!

If you can't make it to Trackrock during October, remember that November is still very pleasant for camping.  November is not crowded and lends to a very laid back and quite outing.

We still have camping spots open for the Thanksgiving holiday!  Stuff your bird in the car, grab a sweater and head to Blairsville.  There are several craft shows and lots of other shopping to get a jump on your holiday shopping without the crowds.  You can also stop by Southern Tree Plantation and pick out (or cut down) your Christmas tree.  Come to the mountains for the holiday - a great time is practically guaranteed!

When is Peak Leaf Weekend?

To us here at Trackrock, it looks like color will peak later in the month.  Last year Mother Nature made us wait until the first week in November!  Check out the most up-to-date leaf report at http://www.fs.fed.us/conf/fall/falcolor.htm

NEW Off Road Vehicle Guidelines

Due to increased numbers of Off Road Vehicles at the campground all ORVs (including but not limited to golf carts, 4 wheel all terrain or utility vehicles, or dirtbikes) MUST be registered at check-in. All guests bringing ORVs will be asked to sign a copy of the ORV Guidelines at the time of registration. Guidelines are available by email upon request.

We (and your fellow guests) appreciate your understanding & cooperation!

It's Winterizing Time!
