Whether or not you have school-age children, this is a time of new beginnings. From now until Labor Day (what we like to call "the beta weeks") we revel in new routines, synchronize schedules and scrutinize the systems we spent all summer setting up. And JAB is here to help you test (and break) them fearlessly. Refueling a drained brain? Read Gotta JAB Orangethrough our archives (HERE and HERE), or ask our JABBERS to share their trusted resources. Worried about losing your mind along with your child's left shoe as they head back to school? Check out our Team JAB tips for staying on top of things, or tap into our Treasure Chest to locate a professional (be it a therapist or an organizer.) Has a summer of all work and no play has left you dull, dull, dull?  Shape up and shine socially at our JustAskBoo Fifth Anniversary cocktail party, starting with a sweet and satisfying smoothie recipe, below. The solutions are just a few clicks away with JustAskBoo.

Have a great week and Happy JABBING!

Housing Help
From Anonymous:  REPLY
I would like to thank all of the JABBERS who responded to my post about my son who was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer. He is now in need of information regarding rental assistance since budget cuts have resulted in a freeze on Section 8 housing vouchers. If you have any suggestions or recommendations on where he can turn to for assistance, please contact me. Thank you!

Doggie Danke Schöns
From Inge Kerster
I would like to send a very big thank you to JABBERS who responded to my post earlier this year ("Puppy Love", 01.24.13). Not only did I find an amazing dog-sitter for my labrador, shih tzu and dachshund, I had the pleasure of "meeting" a few of you while I was following up on your leads. It is wonderful to know that there are people out there who care for their pups as deeply I do and understand my needs, and that I can connect with them through JustAskBoo. Thank you.

Going To The Dogs
From Lee Clark:  REPLY
Do you know anyone who makes their own dog food/treats? I'd love to share them at a local fundraiser. Or, if you have some great recipes, please let me know! Many thanks.

Mini on the Move

I need to ship my Mini Cooper to Boulder, Colorado. Can anyone recommend a reputable long distance car transport company? I hope you hear from you.

Don't Lose It!
Can't it always be like this?
Day 4, and all your back-to-school work seems to be paying off. The promise of the year ahead is as beautiful and as orderly as a brand new box of crayons. But it's only a matter of time before that first teacher's note, lunchbox or shoe goes missing. Check out our tips to keep your child organized ~ and to keep you from losing it over a long list of missing items ~ well after the glow of the new school year has faded!

Keep a Calendar
Know what your child needs to bring to school every day by keeping a calendar and chart. Before school, remind your child what they have with them and why they need it.

Minimalist Approach
Only have your child take the minimum, and clean out those backpacks one a weekly basis. If their backpack is stuffed to the gills with things they don't need, something is bound to get lost.

Start a Routine
Ask your child every day if they have everything they brought with them. The routine question is a subtle way of reinforcing the importance of bringing things home.

Get Organized
Now that you have bought all the cases, bags and folders needed for school, teach your child how to use them. Show them what it looks like to be organized. They might not fully understand what everything is for.

Label It
Put your child's name on everything! That way when you make the dreaded call to school asking if they've found your child's notebook, it's easier to find.

So Rewarding
If your child has gone a week without losing anything, reward them!

Have Backups
In an ideal world, nothing would go missing. But, be realistic and have backups of things your child needs often.

Happy back to school and Happy JABBING!

Team JAB's Favorite Recipes: Party On!
With six weeks to go before we meet in Miami, fitting into our cocktail dresses is top of mind. We discovered this delicious, nutrient-packed smoothie at the Coffee Bar at Whole Foods Market of Coral Springs while scoping out sunflower butters for school lunches. Our Team JAB tester can attest that it's not only waist-conscious, but a hit with the kids!
