The Hard Data on Being a Nice Boss
There's an age-old question out there: Is it better to be a "nice" leader to get your staff to like you? Or to be tough as nails to inspire respect and hard work? Despite the recent enthusiasm for wellness initiatives like mindfulness and meditation at the office, and despite the movement toward more horizontal organizational charts, most people still assume the latter is best.

The Last Word
AAMC CFAS News, November 11, 2014:
And finally, [insert interesting "And Finally" item here] an article in Slate discusses editing problems in scientific journals where bracketed comments inadvertently make it into print, creating an embarrassing situation for authors and editors alike. While the problem is relatively rare in big publications, for smaller journals, where copy editing after peer review is more of a luxury than a rule, the problem is more common [or should we say widespread?].
AAMC CFAS News, November 21, 2014:
And finally, just in time for Black Friday, you can now purchase a lab coat designed specifically for women. An article in TribLIVE profiles Leslie Latterman, D.O., a family medicine doctor who has formed a business called Designs by Dr. Leslie, which sells lab coats featuring zippered pockets, a Velcro strap for holding a stethoscope, and a softer, lighter fabric (that's wrinkle-free and stain-resistant). Noting help she received from experts in fashion, Dr. Latterman acknowledged, "I can suture, but I definitely can't sew."
