Join the ELUM Community in San Antonio

  

We're a little over a month away from the 2nd ELUM Professional Development program in San Antonio - will you be joining us?

 

Currently, more than 80 ELUMs have registered, representing 17 different classes.

  • The classes of '12 and '13 are the most represented, with 18 members of each class registered to attend.
  • '10 and '11 are close behind with eight and nine ELUMs registered respectively.
  • The only class not represented so far is the class of 2000.

 

This is promising to be a great event and gathering

of the powerful ELUM community.

ELUM News

 

Current ELAM Fellow Debra Houry, M.D., M.P.H., was featured in an article on the 20th anniversary of Emory University's Center for Injury Control.

 

Abigail (Abby) Klemsz MD, PhD (ELAM '10) has been named the inaugural Assistant Dean for Academic Advising and Career Mentoring in the Office of Medical Student Affairs at the Indiana University School of Medicine. In this role, Dr. Klemsz will develop, implement and oversee a longitudinal program for academic advising and career mentoring for students across the nine campuses of the School of Medicine. Dr. Klemsz is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and Director of the Complex Care Inpatient Service at Riley Hospital for Children. 

 

Current ELAM Fellow Carla Pugh, M.D. was featured in an article in Slate, 'A Heart Beating Around Her Finger': How a close call in the ER turned a young doctor into a surgical visionary.

 

Joanne Todesco, M.D. (ELAM '11) is the 2013 Staff recipient of the Canadian Association of Internes and Residents Dr. Derek Puddester Award for Resident Wellbeing. Dr. Todesco received her award in Ottawa on November 23.

 

The AAMC Group on Women in Medicine and Science (GWIMS) has published on their website the posters from their AAMC Annual Meeting session, "Women in Medicine and Science: Collaboration in a Time of Change." Over a dozen ELUMs are authors on posters, and two posters evaluate ELAM's effectiveness: Leadership Development for Academic Women - Linking Program Goals and Evaluation for Optimal Impact and Retaining Talent in Academic Medicine: The Impact of Professional Development Programs for Women Faculty.
