Help, Hope, and Healing During the Holidays

The holidays can be a wonderful time of the year. Many people experience the "holiday paradox" where time seems to whiz by but in retrospect slows down because of the beautiful memories being made during the holiday season. This is the time of year when we count our blessings and reflect on our lives. We're also asking ourselves "is it possible to attend 3 holiday parties in one night?"

A New Home for the Holidays: Karen's Story

 
Karen's decision was difficult, but she had to keep her children safe. After years of abuse, she filed a police report and had her abusive husband removed from the apartment where they lived with their 3 young children.

It was the right thing to do, but suddenly she was a single mom with only one income and many unforeseen expenses.

Mary Jane and Buck Jones: A Tradition of Giving 


A couple years ago, Mary Jane was introduced to the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay by members of the Crisis Center's Women In Action group. She attended a Women In Action meeting and soon became a member. When the Crisis Center launched the Legacy Society, she and Buck made a commitment to include the Crisis Center in their estate plans. Mary Jane explains why she supports the Crisis Center.

"The Crisis Center provides help to all generations. They make daily telephone reassurance phone calls to elderly individuals, and kids and their caretakers can go there for counseling when they've experienced a traumatic event."

It's "business as usual" at the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. Because crisis never takes a holiday, counselors, crisis specialists, case managers, nurse practitioners and advocates are here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and that includes the December holidays.  We hope you and your loved ones remain safe this Holiday Season, but should something happen, know that we are here, ready to provide help, hope and healing to those that need it....(READ MORE)
