Message from the Director
Hawaii Island Visits
From December 3-5, I made my third neighbor Island trip, visiting some of our member schools on the Big Island. I thoroughly enjoyed the incredible landscape between Kona and Waimea, on my way to spend time at the Parker School, Hawaii Preparatory Academy, Waimea Country School, Hawaii Montessori, Kamuela Campus, and Makua Lani Christian Academy.

At the Parker School, Headmaster Carl Sturges gave a great tour of the picturesque campus. I spoke to high school students about Global Issues Network, watched elementary students prepare for their holiday program, and visited a ceramics class to see some amazing artwork.

At the quaint and friendly Waimea Country School, I was greeted by Amy Salling and her staff. The entire school came together to hear about my travels and sing with the students.

Angeline Geldhof welcomed me to the Hawaii Montessori, Kamuela Campus. The children were just finishing their afternoon nap as Angeline gave an informative tour.

At Hawaii Preparatory Academy new Head, Robert Mckendry, was on hand to talk about the school. I was given a wonderful tour by Admission Director, Josh Clark. The highlight was a tour of the school's Energy Lab where I met with several students and lab director Bill Wiecking. From the high school, I visited the Village campus where I met with principal, Midge Jambor.

The fifth and final school was the charming Makua Lani Christian Academy where I was hosted by Thaddea Pitts and Nancy Begley. I arrived just in time to see the elementary students preparing for their holiday program.

There are many more schools to visit on the Big Island and I plan to return as soon as possible.
