2015 SOTF Proposal Deadline Extended to March 27
The deadline for submitting proposals has been extended to Friday, March 27th. To submit a proposal, visit the website and click on "Call for Proposals." Notifications will be sent by April 17. The Conference will be held on November 3 & 4.

2015-16 Hawaii Theater Center Production Schedule
Hawaii Theater Center productions and dates have been set for the 2015-16 school year. Click here for a peek at the upcoming season. As always, student matinee performance tickets are $5 and with every 20 students, a teacher/chaperone gets in for free. To make reservations, call our Box Office Manager, Janet Sablan, at 791-1310.

Student-Run TEDx Youth Event: April 4
The public is invited to attend student presentations on the "Sustainability of Us" at the TEDxYouth@Punahou event on Saturday, April 4, from 2 - 6 pm, in Thurston Memorial Chapel on Punahou School's campus. The official TEDx event, independently organized by Punahou high school students, will feature 15 student speakers from 11 public and private schools on O'ahu. The "Sustainability of Us" theme invites local speakers to reflect on what sustains the mind, body and community as a whole, and allows students' voices to be shared in a public forum. The dynamic presentations aim to inspire attendees to engage in the community and create change at the grassroots level for a more sustainable future. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased online.

Punahou Production of the Pajama Game:
April 9-10 & 17-18
The public is invited to attend performances of "The Pajama Game" on Thursday and Friday, April 9 - 10, and Friday and Saturday, April 17 - 18, 2015, at 7:30 pm, in Dillingham Hall on Punahou School's campus. Tickets are $8 for students and seniors (65 and older), with ID; $15 for adults. Purchase tickets at the Sullivan Administration Building Box Office on April 7 - 8 and 15 - 16 from 3 - 5 pm and one hour before each performance. Reserved seating. Click here to view the flier.

Reid Richards Foundation Scholarship: April 20
The Reid Richards Foundation Kamakaho'ohie Scholarship is awarded to 5 individuals who have lost a parent or primary caregiver. The foundation's scholarship committee will determine the amount of each scholarship following the April 20, 2015 deadline. The scholarship amounts will be no less than $2,000 and no more than $7,500. For more information and to apply please visit their website.

The Paradigm Challenge Competition: July 1
The Paradigm Challenge is a privately funded youth challenge, supported by the Red Cross, to motivate youth to learn about fire safety. The Challenge is open to participants ages 7-18, and entries can include posters, videos, inventions, messages, community events, mobile apps, websites or anything else. The 100 teams with the best ideas will win cash prizes up to $100,000. The deadline for entries is July 1 and finalists will be notified on July 11. Cyber Hui Social: April 4
Cyber Hui is hosting a social on April 4 from 3 to 5 pm. This event will bring together the coaches, mentors, and students that participated in CyberPatriot VII, which is a National Youth Cyber Education Program sponsored by the Air Force Association. Hawaii Community Foundation Grant: April 15
The Hawai'i Community Foundation is excited to share a new grant program through their Pillars of Peace Hawai'i (PoPH) program. "Building Peace and Compassion Through Social and Emotional Learning Programs in Classrooms and Communities" seeks to involve teachers, parents, administrators and the collective community in programs that increase social emotional learning and compassionate and mindful behavior in Hawai'i's youth. Eligible applicants include: A private or public school (including public charter school) in the State of Hawai'i; A non-profit organization with a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status with a primary or secondary school partner. EdCamp Kaua'i: April 25
Educators and school leaders from across the state are invited to a unique, first-time opportunity on Kaua'i. EdCamps are "UNconferences," that are free, participant-driven professional development events where the attendees set the schedule and lead the sessions, which are conversations - not presentations. The event will take place on Saturday, April 25 at Island School from 8:00 am- 1:30 pm. Coffee, snacks, and lunch provided. Registration and more Information can be found at www.edcampkauai.org.

Education Technology Conference: June 8-10
Kukulu Kaiaulu 2015: Building Global Communities, is an education technology conference sponsored by Kamehameha Schools' Information Technology Division. The cost is $165 per person, which includes breakfast and lunch. Also included is an "unconference," which is a participant-driven, discussion-based event filled with interesting conversations with like-minded people who want to connect and share. Institute for Thematic Instruction: June 22-July 2
Taught by Dr. Robert Peters, along with experienced classroom teachers from Hanahau`oli, the Summer Institute is a two-week seminar and practicum experience in the design of thematic units with an emphasis upon engaging children in project-based learning. The Institute includes the development of a unit draft with outcomes, instructional strategies and assessment tools. It will also include observations, hearing first-hand from practitioners, opportunities to ask questions and explore the challenges and rewards of a thematic approach. Advanced Placement Summer Institute: July 20 - 23
HPU will be hosting a four-day intensive professional development opportunity for new and experienced AP teachers, coordinators, counselors and administrators. Educators will gather to discuss course-specific content, instructional strategies, course organization and methods for promoting greater student participation. Sessions are led by College Board-endorsed subject experts who will help equip new and experienced AP educators with effective resources and best practices.
