Our chapters are getting to that busy time of year when big events and plans stumble over each other in rapid succession. We are a volunteer organization and leaders are rarely so happy as now to hear the simple words, "I'll help with that." What does that have to do with a website? Check out your chapter's website or newsletter and see all the plans & possibilities. If you don't find any, or parts of it seem thin or outdated, maybe it's because no one has volunteered to keep it current. Your leaders' ideas need good and timely publicity. Could you help your chapter in this important area of communications? It's the path where I started as a CSI volunteer, and it has made all the difference. David Bishton, RA, CSI, CCS, CCCA, SCIP

It was the architect's first project incorporating BIM - but not all of the consulting team was participating in the model.
An interesting thing happened during the submittals process - the structural engineer discovered...

ASC REGIONS 6&7 CONFERENCE 2015
Dean Leschak, CSI, CCPR, Southwest Region President-Elect
I recently attended the ASC 6&7 Conference in Reno, Nevada. Your CSI team in attendance also included Duane Johnson, Sacramento Chapter; Eric Camin, President-West Region; Gene Forshime, Puget Sound Chapter, and Charles Grundy, Reno Chapter.
ASC is the Associated School of Construction, and Regions 6 and 7 consist of 44 universities from 14 western states. In attendance were over 1,400 students, 200 faculty and 95 construction companies - a great gathering of the brightest young minds from many prestigious schools about to enter the Construction Management Industry. The enthusiasm and character of these students is quite inspiring and gives tremendous confidence for the future of our industry. It is the "Cream of the Crop" representing each school...

SOUTHWEST REGION: DID YOU KNOW...?SPECIAL MEMBERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT
In case you are unaware, CSI Institute is currently installing a new database system. There are still some 'kinks' being work on diligently by staff. If you have been trying to renew your CSI membership or sign up for something over the last few months, please read the following:
- Members with renewal dates in February and March may now login at portal.csinet.org and renew. These members were unable to renew until late last week. Direct renewing members to login at portal.csinet.org and look for a "Renew Your Membership" link in yellow on the left. Using the online system increases accuracy of information and speed, and reduces the time and resources needed to process the applications backlog.
- Members can update their information at portal.csinet.org. Direct them to log in and click "update your profile" on the left. Members can change their contact information, join a practice group, select email and fax preferences, choose to be included in CSI's Member Directory, and add social media profiles, among other options.
- New members may join online at portal.csinet.org. Applications received by fax or mail are not automated and are processed much more slowly. Direct new members to join online.
- Registration is open for the CSI Academies in San Francisco at www.csinet.org/academies.
- Registration is open for CSI Certificate and Certification Exams at www.csinet.org/certification. Visit this area to see the new registration deadline, extended exam window, and reduced pricing.
We appreciate your patience during the transition and look forward to normal operations resuming ASAP.
